round masterrace
Whatever's cheapest.
the cheaper one
>>53756528
flat
Wireless cable
>>53756528
The flat ones usually curl around in some way that leaves the wider portion positioned awkwardly. Round is better.
Round. Easier cable management.
>>53756528
Round. It's got that meaty feel that I like.
>Yes, just like a cock
>>53756528
Depends what for, round if the cables are easily hidden.
Flat if I need to run it under electrical tape along the floor.

If you say so, anon.
>>53756528
I honestly didn't know anyone used flat eth cables
>>53757340
I use one only because it came with my router and my only other free cable was 100feet
[ ] Blue
[ ] Black

Pick one.
>>53756528
Round, I like thick wire gauge.

Rounds are better insulated so will do better at 1Gbit and higher.
Flats are okay for short links.

Yellow for Modems/Routers
Blue/white/black for switch and end devices
>>53757439
I like Green tho ;(
>>53757439
i have a red one
>>53757439
gray
>>53757439
Black - Anything that presents a console (KVM/IPMI)
Blue - Anything client facing, behind the firewall
Yellow - Anything DMZ
Red - Anything public side of firewall
Orange - Fiber
White - iSCSI
Purple - Ethernet interconnect (Heartbeat, replication network, etc)
Note - Infiniband interconnect cables are black, with silver heads and blue tabs, and do not follow this scheme.
>>53757627
So if anything goes wrong you cut the red wires?
>>53757627
Thats' completely wrong as a wiring standard.

if the flat one doesn't have twisted cables in it because it's flat then why are they made
>>53757735
Save space. And it's good enough for 100Mbit over short links.
>>53757439
Blue makes the internet go faster
Black is very experimental. Probably very dangerous too.
Yellow makes sure your router and modem stay friends and don't fight.
>>53757724
That guide is for phone and network interconnects. Doesn't apply past dmark point.
>>53757546
Tech illiterate fuck. Get off this board.
>>53756528
the twists help to protect it against EM interference. i dont see how a flat one could even have twiest
>>53757872
It doesn't, >>53757778
>>53756528
>>53757439
Whichever is available.
>>53757089
Wouldn't square work better?
>>53757735
For going through doors I imagine. I have a round 10 meter cable going to this room from behind the TV in the livingroom. It is completely chewed up. Been thinking about getting a flat cable just for that portion of my network.
