>get computer glasses
>everything within two to eight feet is as clear as fuck
>can see the entire screen clearly, without eyestrain, after hours of using the PC per day

My god. I can't say it'll make a difference for everyone, but if you have really bad vision already, a separate set of computer glasses can make a huge difference. Definitely not a meme.

I'll try to leave that for a full explanation and tl;dr it.

Basically your eyes are tuned for a certain amount of vision and an adjustment factor. When you view things up close, your eyes have to focus for a close distance. This can lead to eyestrain, particularly if you have a strong prescription for myopia (nearsightedness). A set of glasses for computer will use a lower adjustment factor. For instance, one of my eyes is around -8.50 diopters - the computer glasses prescription is +2.25 (or -6.25). In that way, the glasses are pre-tuned for a closer vision and when I wear them and use things at intermediate distance it is easier on my eyes.

Other than that the only special sauce is antireflective coating. Shit is cheap nowadays and reduces/essentially eliminates glare that is inherent with wearing glasses.

Not everyone may need it but it's certainly more than helpful with my terrible eyes.

If your eyes don't get tired from using computers for a long time and you have a decently lit environment while using a computer (e.g. you aren't in a dark room with the monitor as the only source of light) I'd definitely recommend asking your eye doctor about it.
>>
>>53756185
This is the most retarded shit I've ever seen. Who the fuck actually buys these?
>>
>>53756326
Anyone who gets dry or tired eyes from being at a computer for too long.
If you don't, good for you!
>>
What the fuck are computer glasses? Anyway I have no problem looking at things that are close to me but I can barely see farther than about 5 feet without my glasses.

OP is a faggot shill. Fuck you, bitch and suck my dick.

>>53756306
>have bad vision
>get prescription glasses
>they correct your vision
BRAVO OP!
>>
>>53756411
I've had glasses for years. I still had eyestrain even with prescription adjustments.

I now have progressive lenses for walking around and doing shit at various distances and computer glasses for when I sit in front of a PC for eight hours a day.
>>
Computer glasses? Aren't you just talking about reading glasses OP? And what about those things with the tinted lenses? Aren't they just a scam?

Is anti glare a meme? What kind of glasses should you go for if you work in front of screens for most of the time.

My fucking eyes suck
>>
>>53756474
anti glare is absolutely the lowest on the meme scale
>>
>>53756203
Magic.
Can confirm for legitimacy of computing glasses. Helps with headaches if you get them while on the PC.
>>
>>53756492
What type of anti glare is best?

do these also exist in combination with astigmatism?

I'm not near/far-sighted, can see stuff up close to like 5cm without strain, just have horrible astigmatism.
>>
>>53756628
Astigmatism?
>>
>>53756628
Yes, computer glasses exist in conjunction with astigmatism. If you have neutral vision other than astigmatism they'll be lenses adjusted for that plus a slight positive factor.
>>
>>53756465
>tinted lens shit
If you want to adjust the color then do it from your PC with Flux or similar. You're better off having some bias lighting or suitable ambient light.

>>53756474
Definitely not a meme.

I prefer Crizal to generic AR coatings.

If you have concerns about any aspect of your vision, go to a fucking optometrist.

What's your vision anons?

Does heavy computer use affect your vision?

My vision generally doesn't change from staring at screens all day.

Also, visual snow.
Fuck visual snow.

Does anyone else feel their monitor is bright as fuck? Like the radiation is burning my retinas after a while. I've turned down the brightness, but I can't turn it down anymore without the monitor noticeable dimming to the shadow world.

Get rid of your analog VGA cable and switch to digital (display port, hdmi, or dvi)
>>
>>53758335
Turn on your lights and raise the curtains in the day
>>
>>53758358
Too bad you can't just change real life's VGA cable.
I see static in my vision all day every day. Doesn't matter if it's bright or dark outside.

>>53758277
I have astigmatism correcting glasses, so it doesn't affect me either.
Without it, everything looks somewhat pulled apart.
>>
>>53758335
Flux is a placebo so don't use that
>>
>>53756306
So did I understand correctly. It's basically the same as me using my old glasses? (New ones have more power and my vision is worse now etc)

i need and have glasses but never wear them because i can never get used to them.
everything is clear as fuck with them on but i just can't get used to wearing them.
>>
>>53758624
Just wear them (and adjust them srsly) all the time for few weeks. You do get used to it. Just got my new glasses. Took me a week to adjust and get used to them.
>>
>>53758664
coincidentally i have an eye appointment on monday so i'll wait to see if i need a new perscription (i did last time i went).
after that i guess i'll just force myself to wear them for a while to get used to them.

Not the anon you are responding to but, what the fuck.
I have a similar issue and am on antidepressants.
Eventually I get used to the brightness but evey time i get a new monitor it feels blindingly bright.

I use regular glasses for day to day use, I can see good from close but not far.

Could I use computer glasses?

In Canada, glasses cost like 600 bucks and I can't afford new ones right now. I have to use the zoom feature in my browser to be able to read 4chan. It's becoming a problem.

Going to the shop for a Logitech G900 right away : )

Ask your Optician to be sure, not a good idea to buy cheapo lenses.

Also depends on how curved your glasses are (makes things look smaller), and how strong your current prescription is.

I got a pair (before I went into my forties) so that the screen appeared as near 1:1 size compared to viewing with glasses removed.

Very comfortable, I do Photoshop all day
>>
>>53756185
Useless if you already have to wear prescription glasses

I just got promoted at my job at pornhub!

It's at times like these that I realise our medical system has some perks.
I just change glasses, anti reflective coating and all the jazz with Hugo Boss mount and it costed me 0€ because of the mutual insurance I have from work.
And yes, having good glasses is really a plus, that not something you should cheapen on.
