How are the headphones on the Occulus Rift?

What are the tech-details?
Whats the equivalent to them?

They look so cheap and low-fi,
but I can't find exact descriptions about model and similar phones anywhere.

someone here on /g/ said they're using "audiophile quality" headphones.
that's all I ever heard about them.
>>
Don't know about the headphones, but the mic sounds very good.

yeah,
the DEV said its "audiophile quality" as well.

But I don't believe it.
There haven't been released any specs about the phones (at least none I could find).

Just LOOK at them.
I bet they sound like some cheap headphones you get on a plane or a museum.
>>
Being an audiophile means nothing. It's nothing provable, nothing to get a certificate for. I could say I'm an audiophile when I have $1000 studio speakers, but in reality I don't give a shit about the quality. I like the way my speakers sound.

Calling these headphones "hifi" is really just fooling yourself. Really.

Keep telling yourself that.

there is a difference between a kitchen-radio and a HiFI-Stereo-Sound-System.

As well there is a measurable and hearable difference between - let say - Medion-Headphones and AKG-Studio-Headphones.
>>
Apparently they're just fine. They don't have a lot of bass though, which makes sense considering they sit over your ears instead of enveloping them.

Probably just something like KOSS KSC-75 in a custom shell.
>>

So are you saying that rift's headset is measurably hifi-class? I fucking doubt that. I have same looking koss headset and while they're good, they nowhere close to something I'd call hifi.
>>

i'd like to interject to the topic.

the membrans technology used for this headphone is the indicator of soundquality. not the size/looks

what's the mic for? Intended for mostly multiplayer or voice recognition?

actually. the koss and rift headphones look quiet different if watched close-up

the rift headphoens look out of the league

everything you can imagine my friend.

I'd prefer separate headphones, Sony already make headphones. HTC had more sense to leave it alone.
>>
>>53750973
I'd say this is better. At least now they know you'll have headphones which helps in 3D audio, instead of maybe using speakers at fuck knows where. Sure a lot of people have headphones, a lot probably prefer their headphones, but for those you can just pop these off and still use headphones then.
>>
>>53751003
I didn't imagine anyone would use speakers with personal video.

when you pop these headphones off,
will you be able to get the sound change accordingly to your head-movement?
>>
>>53751084
Sure, why not? It's just stereo sound. Problem is that mixing that stereo sound correctly would rely on knowing where the "speakers" are, and for headphones it's above the ears anyway.
>>
>>53751055
there probably are people which are stupid enough to pair hrtf audio with some logitech speakers
