I know there is a similar thread kickin around here but I have a question of opinion, although this may start a war, I'm going to ask an old question. Nvidea vs AMD, specifically I'm looking at an R9 380x vs a 980, something in the $500 range give or take, thoughts /g/?
>>53745161
did you mean the R9 390X? because the 980 smashes the 380X
>>53745176
well that answers that lol, but yes sorry the 390x got the numbers wrong.
Neither
You either buy a 390 (non-x) or a Fury
>>53745205
why is a non x better than a 390x
>>53745221
x means it's a lower quality card, a rejected card.
>>53745161
probably the most obvious attempt to start a war I've seen all day. At least put some effort into it.
>Asking /g/'s advice
Just fucking pick one. Literally doesn't matter because you're wasting your money in that price range anyways.
>>53745161
The 390Xs are sub-$400 now.
>>53745290
well then what the fuck would you suggest for a mid range card in the shit rig i've got going.
>>53745293
forgot to mention I'm canadian, that exchange rate is shit bro.
>>53745221
Because you can overclock the 390 to 390X levels of performance, without paying the extra ~$100
>>53745350
That's not how it works. The 390X has more actual hardware on it.
>>53745350
thats fair though I would rather not overclcok too much, had bad luck last time i overclocked anything.
>>53745161
Get the 980 if you want your games to actually run without constant problems.
Ok then lets change up the subject a bit, lets say I wanted a card with a reasonable price tag and I was looking to get into VR and possible running things reasonably well in 4k, stuff like gtaV, modded skyrim, division, and eventually games like eve Valkyrie(if it ever gets released)
>>53745441
At least 980 Ti for reasonable 4k performance
>>53745463
fair nuff, I don't own any 4k monitors or anything now but I would like to get some sometime, once I rebuild my rig again.
Get a Fury or dual 390's if wait for a sale. The 980ti is trash and is gonna fall apart after Nvidia gimps it.
>>53745538
I'm not big on SLI, too many problems with too many games, and I have heard that the 980ti got kinda gimped with a few things in an update a few weeks back but it does still seem like the best card on the market for gaming currently aside from an overpriced titan.

Fury is best at 4k

>fury
>4k
nice try raja
