In the end, are ultrawide monitors a meme or not ?
>another boring "is X a meme" thread
If you're going to shitpost, at least say something worth reading.
And if you were actually trying to facilitate a discussion, just fuck off to Reddit from whence you came.
Sage.
All monitors are a meme. Occulus Rift will save us from the greatest meme to haunt computers

I recently bought one
Truth is like any other monitor it's great when you first fire it up and see all the extra real estate compared to your old monitor, then it just becomes normal.
That said, some games still shit themselves trying to use it (like MGSV).
Ive had mine for 18 months now and I dont see myself ever going back to 16:9.

almost bought a nice big 34" 3440x1440p LG 34UC98.
BUT ended up getting 2 25" 2560x1440p for about half the cost.
5120x1440 is bigger than 3440x1440 anyway, and having a small bezel isn't a huge deal considering I am coming from 2 1080p monitors with much larger bezels.
The price premium just seems too extreme for me. The $600 I saved is going towards a new GPU when pascal/polaris comes out.
>most games don't support it let alone older ones
>youtubes videos looks like shit on it thanks to black bars
It's a meme. Don't buy one.
