What does /g/ listen to while programming?

Pic related.

>>53734839
Miami Hotline 1 & 2 soundtrack
>>
It's really hard for me to concentrate while I listen to music. Soundtracks are fine though, since they have no lyrics I could focus on and are generally meant to be in the background anyway. The LotR soundtrack is pretty chill.

ASMR videos. Preferably no talking or a foreign language so I'm not distracted by words.

Nothing or noise (hair dryer, washing machine, vacuum cleaner). No idea why I have this, but I get goosebumps and feel really comfortable when listening to shit like that. Apparently I'm not the only one though.

Stairway to heaven, when code works
>>
I usually like to listen to aggressive music with a fast tempo when I'm coding,
Like Young Thug, Future, Major Lazer, RP Boo, DJ Rashad, Jlin, M.I.A., Grimes, Santigold, Kanye West, Drake, Arca etc.

Most of the times though, when I'm reading about code and whatnot, I tend to listen to calm music like Sufjan Stevens, Sharon van Etten, Burial, Waxahatchee etc.

>>53737333
lol what's he supposed to be listening to? If your answer is anything along the lines of backpacker rap or "classic stuff like 2pac and biggie nawmsayn" then kindly gtfo, music is about more than "the meaning in the lyrics".

Turbo pleb
>>
>>53737377
lolll oh my god i'm sorry

i just realized i wasn't on /mu/, by all means carry on
>>
>>53737393
it isn't. Lyrical content has little to no impact on your immediate enjoyment of a piece of music. Sure, some stuff might be grating, but only when it's really persistent (like "nigga" being on the end of every bar etc.), but in general the lyrics (and I'm talking about the actual "story" content here, word choice has an impact on the flow, which is of course more important) don't matter at all until you listen to them specifically/look them up on rapgenius.
>>
>>53737377
What the fuck is with this spooky Compton meme in pop culture? I grew up in Compton and so long as you're not a flaming white guy who goes around deliberately provoking people consistently, it's not really that had of a place to live at all
>>
>>53737426
>lyrics don't matter until you listen to them specifically
You're saying you don't even listen to the lyrics? What the hell? Why even bother?

>dey play it in da club and it sounds kool when im durnk lol

Deadmau5, Alkaline Trio, Die Antwoord, or vaporwave. It all depends on how well things are going.
>>
I don't even program, just thought I'd leave this here.

https://farmacia901.bandcamp.com/album/vuoto

Minimalism in general makes for a great, un-disturbing work ambience. It's also extremely pretentious.
>>
>>53734839
I listen to your mom screaming like a wild bitch while I program her to take it from behind.
>>
>>53737506
That's the thing. You either focus on the lyrics but don't enjoy the song as a whole, or you listen "globally" but miss the specifics of the lyrical content. All music works this way, not just rap. Also, a lot of rappers like Future and Thugger manage to put a lot of story into the subtext by metaphors and using slang in a smart way, subtilities that backpacker rappers rarely manage (the whole reason Lupe is so revered is because he's one of the only backpacker rappers that makes it work), if you can't enjoy that because "muh plebs like it too", that's just your loss.
>>

the technical word is 'coding'

As a prominent member of Isis I prefer to listen to music of Allah as I tap away on the keyboard writing viruses to bring down the national grid of France. I find a certain inner peace knowing I have God on my side and that one day you shall all die to fave Allah for judgment.

It's called programming, anon.

Programming is creating instructions a computer can execute. Coding is an alternate way of presenting (or obfuscating) information.

Programming is done by people whom are aptly called programmers, not coders.
