Is emulating on linux equal to how it works on windows? I want to emulate a virus, but I am unsure it will work on linux.
I was confused as fuck, but then I realized you likely mean virtual managers.
Same open-sourced shit you'd use on windows, go get VirtualBox

No I mean use a windows virus to infect my linux.

try it in wine but most likely will not yield the results you wanted, otherwise no theres no other way to do it

It probably won't work at all

depending, it'll probably write to the C drive, which is typically /home/usrnamehere/.wine/drive_c while linux root is mounted on the Z drive under wine

Windows viruses generally rely on either
a. users doing retarded stuff that ends up giving them permissions or
b. exploiting the kernel
or both.
since only a is applicable in when being run in wine, probably nothing will happen
