An unremarkable Linux experience with no big drawbacks or advantages

The install process is a bit too long but the distro itself seems to be quite good. Installed on an old celeron M laptop to repurpose it as a server. It seems fairly lightweight and stable so far.

In what way? I'm gnu at this shit.
>>
>>53698719
It's fairly basic by default. Stable really is stable, shit never breaks. It's also old, if that bothers you, use testing or sid. Giant fucking repos. Pretty much anything you might want is packaged for you, so if you wanna make it not-basic, you can. Apt kinda sucks but manages to work well enough.
>>
I tried to install it last night but it refuses to acknowledge rtl8187 or my mouse.
So I gave up and put arch on another box, if only debian was as easy to install.

In what way does apt suck compared to other distros?

Help I can't get my wireless card working with Debian. Is there some trick to setting them up?

no proprietary firmware during install :))))))

Dependency hell isnt too common but sucks

It's also slow. And, unlike RPM, packages are allowed to stop and ask you questions during the install process.

Debian is is to operating systems pretty much what debian is to operating systems.

Debian is worst linux from all of them. Go Gentoo instead.

Highly subjective and overly dramatic.

Why do you care what *others you have nothing to do with* use?
>>
>>53699113
Aren't packages required to be backwards compatible?

People involved with debian for a long time may commit suicide.

A really cool distro.

I switched myself a few days ago from Mint, been loving it. Debian Testing is really nice. Great balance between stability and new stuff. Repos are fuck-huge

It depends. If you use legacy hardware you'll be fine. If not, you better install sid.
>>
I'm using it a few months already (Debian testing) and I like it a lot but there's one library that I need at the moment and it's not available in testing, but it is available in Ubuntu.

http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gdcm.html

This library is used for processing medical DICOM files.

You're about to be entangled in dependencies and bloatware
install devuan instead
