The only courses I had ranked lower were language courses with prerequisites. Though now I'd rather sit through advanced Italian than this.

Anyone know how CS or similar programing courses in East-Asian universities are? Specifically in Korea or China (or Japan and Singapore)?

They're about as shit as shit gets. Ever consider why even with their 'high tech' industries and markets they continue to use European tech and programming?

What's wrong with KCL?

You serious? I applied for this school, it can't be that bad right... Anyone else have experiences like this?

Also anyone in UGA?

Hey /g/, I am currently a freshman at UM majoring in mechanical engineering. I have recently considered switching to computer science, but as I've researched and you guys have mentioned; getting a BA in computer science is more of a luxury. So I am currently debating whether or not computer engineering might be an option for me. Anyone in computer engineering or know anything about it? Help a brotha out /g/

How the fuck did you get into KCL? And a transfer depends on what subject you're studying. If it's CS: UCL, Cambridge, Oxford, or Edinburgh. Glasgow's not bad either.

How good is UK in CS/Informatics?
Thinking of maybe taking a masters there. What are the best unis for that? Or maybe I should go to another country?
>>
>>53696543
I'm exaggerating, but it really does boil down to teachers and TAs. If you get good teachers and TAs, almost all classes would be a piece of cake.
>>
>>53695260
>Half the text books are written by the professor

I can't remember the details, but in order for a professor to maintain their tenure status, they have to occasionally have to write a text book.
>>
>>53697730
The unis I listed are good for CS/Informatics, some of the top in the world, Edinburgh offers a 5 year masters course (trying to switch to that just now). It really depends on where you want to go. If you want to be in Europe then the UK is a good choice and the unis above will be your best bet (but have a look around at the current stats). Avoid technical colleges, I looked at going to one for CS and it was essentially Java, then a bunch of programming assignments in Java. If you want a good CS degree the UK is definitely good. The top US unis also have a very good reputation, so you may want to check them out too.

Make sure you can maths before you turn up. Best of luck with your education.
>>
>>53697991
Doing a bachelor in Informatics in Norway atm.
Want to go to a top uni for my masters.
Were originally thinking top 5 in US, or Singapore (or Korea as I just want to go there again).
But I am also considering good EU unis.

I currently have very little math though. Only elementary calculus and discrete math as compulsory math courses. Taking class in computational theory as well. So I am just a bit concerned if I need more math.
So the top 3 in UK CS, are the same as the normal UK uni rankings? Oxford, Cambridge and maybe UCL or Imperial?
>>
I'm a postgrad in parallel computing at Edinburgh. It's definitely not top of the world or even close to it.
>>
>>53695260
How do we make universities with this shit great again?

(If you had some influence over it of course)

How are the Co-ed dorms there? I heard nothing really happens because the people that choose them are gay.

>>53698131

Top 3 are pretty much that yeah. As for maths, it depends on your specialism, you may want some linear algebra in there as well. The amount of maths you'll need also depends on the uni you go to, if it's any of the top ones, I'd assume you need a fair bit.
>>
>>53699045
Wouldn't know. I'm too poor to live there. I can barely afford the tuition. The big advantage for dorming is the enormous time save. And yeah, it's easy to figure out who's gay or not. You'll just know when you see the gay guy.
>>
>>53699342
>you may want some linear algebra in there as well.
Might take that course. The EE students have to take it. I will see how it goes. If I need it, I will just do it on the side one semester.
>>
>>53699352
I might not choose a Co-ed dorm for the sake of not being called a pervert.

I work at UCL - shit sucks (at least from an internal perspective it's a circus)

>>53694004
Fucking imposter.

Hey everyone, I made the first Shitty Uni thread. I was shitposting. I know KCL is a good Uni, but for some reason the people there get buttdevistated if you call it bad, so I was trying to piss em off.

OP is a big fat, disgusting phony.

>At one of the best Uni's in the country and probably the world

What garbage college doesn't require Linear Algebra for every half-decent degree program? I took that shit freshman year
>>
I'm studying in Spain and i'm going to University of California Irvine 1 semester. What should I expect?

Undergrads UCL here, 1st year sucks but they get better. London is a good place for jobs hunting too.
