Ssh username is almost always implicit.
>>53692295
Because no distro implements local logins through ssh?

This subject is completely retarded but let me pretend I'm knowledgable about it either way. Here is some random factoid I cited from wikipedia but pretended it was from a reputable book. 50 words are literally fucking nothing. Did you mean 5000? In closing, fuck you and your bullshit assignments.

somewhat related also but it's because you can login to users that the DE might not know about for whatever reason - the DE might not verify username before prompting for the password
>>53692386
I wasn't clear, was referring to servers with no WM/DE

When I said freshly generated I meant that I generated it in the style of my current passwords.
Go ahead and add it to a hashtable.

If the password remains in the username field even after yiou have left the site, you can use shift+delete top get rid of it. Same with stuff typed into the addressbar

the point the comic is trying to make, and a lot of people miss, is that short mixed charset passwords are weaker than longer passwords of just common english words
ever come across a site that has requirements on the password field like 8-16 chars, must have at least 1 number, symbol, etc? it significantly reduces the number of passwords that people can use - and if the hashing algorithm used is weak, then anyone with a couple of grand (£10-15k) can buy a few amd cards and crack a shit ton of passwords used by that site
but if you use a relatively long password of just 3-4 random english words, i.e., diceware, you've upped the length of the password to the point where it cannot be cracked using brute force, and if you're using a STRONG (i.e., NOT diceware) wordlist, then trying to bruteforce that becomes harder than just bruteforcing regularly
but what a lot of people do is use really common english words that can fit in a <2-5k wordlist and suddenly that "correct horse battery staple" password can be brute forced far easier than a moderately long (12-14+) password of mixed charsets
when given equal length, the more characters you have in a set the stronger the password will be, until quantum computers are a thing at any rate
