What to you paranoid pedophiles have against telemetry? Don't you understand companies collect data about their users so they can IMPROVE their product?

I bet none of you even know shit about programming, you're probably just underage kids from /v/ who think everything just magically works without the developer knowing anything about their users.
>>
>>53685185
>IMPROVE their product
You mean inject ads? Or is it aids?
>>
>>53685185
It's the fact that they don't explicitly detail what's being collected and what it's used for.

Tell me what you want to know, and then I'll make an informed judgement as to whether it's worth the privacy/security risk to allow others to use my data. As it's usually hidden behind weasel-worded 'we may or may not use unspecific blah blah to enhance the user story' legalese, I can't make an informed judgement and thus turn all that shit off if possible.

To the contrary, since I know how to program I can submit a detailed bug report that is far more useful than telemetry data.
>>

Back to /v/ kiddo

While you're at it, tell us your
parents' names

list of schools attended
class registers
friends interacted with
your grades from kindergarten through uni
your mother tongue
your mother's tongue
size of house
monthly income
home board
browser history
and computer speccy

I mean, it's n...not like you are doing anything illegal, r...right anon?
>>
telemetry is fine. I leave it enabled on my phone and browser. The issue is when telemetry becomes spying. Example, Windows 10 "telemetry" is over the line.
>>
>bait.jpg
>>
It's not the fact that they're taking data. It's how they're so fucking sketchy about it

>force updates that push the telemetry feature
>don't tell you what data gets collected
>>
>>53685185
>Don't you understand companies collect data about their users so they can IMPROVE their product?
Great for them but as a users, I should decide whether they can do it on my PC or not. You know, the way literally any other company handles it.
>>
>>53687428
This is disgusting
>>
>>53687847
You won't get any of that with basic telemetry.
>>
>>53689870
Yeah but you'll get stuff like:

browses 4chan
likes anime
faps to lolis and traps
sees what his facebook page is

If used by an enemy, that's powerful ammunition.
>>
>>53690257
Browsing history isn't part of it either.

Besides, the logic of using FB and caring about privacy is amazing.
>>
Still waiting for your Facebook id, OP

Fake shit.

we have to agreed to a ToS. Also I would like to get something in change, what do you offer?

And of course, you have to give me your name, your company name, and address.
>>
The only faecesbutts account I use regularly is fake, I used it only to log in to various sites. What else could the botnet sell about me?

I really have no issue posting my FB account. Here:

As far as Windows 10 is concerned, I guarantee that I know more about it's telemetry than you do...

>I bet none of you even know shit about programming, you're probably just underage kids from /v/ who think everything just magically works without the developer knowing anything about their users.
I work on a big open source project and we don't need to spy on our users to understand how to improve it.
>>

>>
>>53692165
Nor does Linux, GCC, or literally any other gigantic open source project.

What makes browsers such special snowflakes that makes them think they need to spy on their users in a way literally no other project does?
>>
>>53692165
Chromium is open source

They can go fuck themselves.
>>
>>53691745
I can suggest you some consumer products relevant to your
Facebook activity pattern
I will not give away mine since I don't want my activities public

Edgy...

You must be 18+ to be here, btw...
>>
>he doesn't have something to hide

>he thinks anyone who disagrees with him is an 'edgy' teen when really he just wants people to be miserable like he is

OP is the worst kind of wagecuck and should be banned from the board imo.
>>
There is absolutely no single piece (or collective) of data that any company can collect about me and how I use my personal computer or the operating system I've chosen to use that will improve their products for me in any way, shape, or form.

The only piece of data they need to know is that I'd prefer their products not collect any data on my usage or about me at all.

Funny how that works, eh?
>>
>>53685185
if you want me to beta test your shit you better pay me for it
>>
> i know better than my users because i collect data

literal patriarchy. and not the cool hugh hefner kind.

enjoy being an ignorant fuck and losing your clients because you think stalking and offering products with no real value is a business model.
>>
>>53685185
>Don't you understand companies collect data about their users so they can IMPROVE their product?
Don't you understand that the companies collect data to improve serving you ads? I'm not going to give them help to make money from me...
>>
Good point OP. How is Microsoft going to improve Windows 10 if they don't know absolutely everything about me?
>>
>>53687428

>>
>>53685185
It should be the user's choice to send telemetry.

The user could be prompted to enable, but telemetry should be turned off by default. Users should also have the option to submit bug reports themselves.
>>
>>53685185
I was on the corporate train for quite some time, but I start to think that Microsoft is more harming to a free, democratic and capitalist society than it is useful.

They do everything in their power to undermine basic market freedoms, by expanding their almost-monopoly and abusing its power to fuck people over by simply lying to them, offering a product that simply does what it wants without consent.

Their EULA coupled with the update system is basically a 1933 enabling act, allowing them to do whatever th efuck they want on people's property.

They use strange tax strategies to fuck over shareholders and the middle class of the US and several European countries alike by paying less taxes than a Kindergarden teacher, offloading all their tax loads to actual tax-payers.
>>
>>53685185
do you not understand the concept of "opt-in"? every quality piece of software that collects data does so anonymously and never without your express approval.

have you not paid attention to Snowden at all? yes, the NSA actually fucking looks at your dick pics and weird porn searches. we know this to be factual. if a fucking government agency does it than it's 200% sure the multinationals also do it.

your post implies that the answer to both of these questions is "no", which would make you a run of the mill piece of consumer trash with no opinions worth heeding whatsoever.
>>
>>53685185
If they are making money from me doing something for them, they better fucking pay me too.
>>
>>53685185
I'm against telemetry, but disabling it (as in, really disabling it and not just clicking the polite no thanks button) is so trivial that I really don't care. Most of /g/ is too stupid to actually monitor their network traffic and block the necessary connections.

Not caring for privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say.

Not to mention that simply knowing that we are being watched is proven to change the way we look for information and interact with other people. Here's one source I scrounged up quickly

http://www.pewinternet.org/2015/03/16/how-people-are-changing-their-own-behavior/

>“I don’t search some things that I might have before.”
>“Somewhat concerned to look up certain information on search engines, since it may appear suspicious, even if my reason is pure curiosity.”
>“I used to be more open to discussing my private life online with my select friends. Now I don’t know who might be listening.”
>“Can’t joke about stuff that could be taken as a threat.”

Not as many as there are fallacious debaters with nothing meaningful to contribute apparently who should be brushed of quickly.
