URxvt. Honestly.

Terminology. It's the most aesthetically pleasing terminal in existence.

Konsole
>>

I tried out Konsole once.

After spending a few hours monkey-patching the source in order to make it function as an even remotely useful terminal, I realize I was wasting my time and just switched back to URxvt.

I use BRLTTY because seeing the terminal is for amateurs.

I just started using evilvte, it's lightweight and you can config the fuck out of it. I was using LXterminal before and i like evilvte way more. I have mine all set up to be clean and minimal. Feels fucking nice. Plus it still has features like tabs etc.
>>
Literally anything other than xterm is a total fucking waste of manhours and inherently inferior to boot.

Something that isn't vte. I personally use URxvt.
>>
>>53691337
Why is Vte bad?
>>
>>53691371
It's a few orders of magnitude too slow.

>copy large directory with rsync -v
>no problems in urxvt
>vte actually bottlenecks the file transfer

>grep for something with many hits in urxvt
>takes a minute to finish displaying in libvte
>instantly appears in urxvt

>quickly scroll through history in weechat
>urxvt
>libvte stutters and churns as it tries to keep up

>hold down ‘j’ key in vim in a blank document
>no problems in urxvt
>vte actually flickers as it continuously repaints the screen

I'm not saying it's slow, but it's SLOOOOOOOOOOW.
>>
what's the fucking point of urxvt

uxterm does everything i would want a terminal emulator to do, what's the point of installing another one

good thing urxvt doesn't come with Xorg and uxterm does though, right
>>
>>53692514
>uxterm comes with X.org
That would be the first time I've heard of it. It certainly doesn't exist on my machine.
>>
>>53691371

among the other issues posted here, libvte writes scrollback (including remote sessions over ssh) to disk - which can be a big security issue

I guess uxterm is just xterm with the unicode patch enabled?

If so, holy shit for believing that xterm comes with X.org. And holy shit even more for actually using xterm.

It's literally the worst piece of shit terminal emulator there is. Slow, buggy, insane code.

This is just Red Hat and their insane antics. Seriously, if you can avoid Red Hat software, do so.

Their shit is ass-backwards at every level and their attitude is “shut up, this is not a bug - you're just using it wrong, and besides we have commit rights and you don't so fuck off”.

Very fast, well-supported, comes with shittons of perl plugins for everything you could possibly need, actually supports unicode.

Konsole + yakuake

It may not be the best setup but it's mine and I love it.
>>
>>53690719
That's ncmpcpp, almost every terminal music player seen in desktop threads is ncmcpp due to it's customizability.

Protip: tell me which VTE maintainer works for Red Hat.

Doesn't look like it to me. Stop spreading misinformation.
