>This. Too scared components will break when updating.
But you can safely try everything out with a portable install?

Nope. When the window's in focus it disappears. When the window's out of focus it appears above the lyrics, but never in album view. Spooky stuff
>>53684236

>>53684164
font?
Foobar updating has to be the least anticipated software update of them all.
It already:
Doesn't crash.
Plays everything.
Uses the least resources.
Is highly customizable.
And more.
Just what am I looking for in new versions?
time for some
bloat.
>>53684417
>go to /mu/ foobar thread
>everything is fucking bloated
>>53684417

>>53684331

Working for me
why anyone would use shitbar2k over musicbee is beyond me
>>53680663
Whats the best cross platform (windows/linux) music player.
>foobar2k
>foobar2k on wine
>>53685428
is there actually a reason why there´s no native linux version? or is it just
>wine just werks so use that
/g/ why you always gotta make shit so complicated.
Sometimes the easiest solution is the best.
>>53685486
no idea thats why im asking. i use clementine atm and its nice but i really liked foobar and im looking for a good reason to go back. i mean fucking foobar took like 10 mb of ram. thats fucking ridiculous.
You can't make me change my ways /g/!
Nothing broken after updating, all is good.
>>53685546
>spotify
it's like you don't even like music.
>>53685798
I like music enough to not waste time trying to configure programs like foobar2000. Been there, done that, had my entire collection in musepack
>>53685913
but spotify is shit for audio quality anon, besides streaming still isn't an option for lot's of folk in murkastronk because datacaps
>>53685546
>streaming
>>53685959
>>53685982
Spotify can play local music as well.
It's like you guys don't even know the capabilities of the sane alternatives you so vilify.
I use musicbee :^)
>>53680663
Chinese botnet with shit interface
>>53682864
exactly.
>>53686029
it's advertised as a strictly streaming service and since I couldn't give two shits about streaming, why would I know anything about it? and I don't vilify it, I just think it's a bad choice for those two whome music is srsbznss and have large collections stored locally, not to mention the fact that most players have upnp functions that let you become your own streaming service
>>53686029
this desu famalam >>53686093
>>53686093
this, just cancelled spotify in favor of using old laptop as server and streaming my library (and torrenting what new things i want remotely)
>>53684417
How do I do this anon?
>>53686149
not that guy but, hydrogenaudio has a bunch of instructions for basically doing everything it's possible to do with foobar and addons
>>53686093
>>53686127
>not to mention the fact that most players have upnp functions that let you become your own streaming service
Congratulations, you just described Google Music, which is where I uploaded my old library and where I put mixtapes that aren't on Spotify.
Being willfully ignorant isn't a virtue. You're in good company though - /g/ gets a thrill out of using relatively unknown and incomprehensible programs as a rule, no matter if it's operating systems, productivity software, or music players.
>>53686305
no I did not describe google music, because it's stored and streamed locally, sound quality is preserved rather than being degraded to save room in the cloud, and there's also no data usage for local streaming, either for the phone/device or the pc you're streaming from. sounds to me like you're the one who doesn't know what he's talking about and just trying to seem knowledgeable by shilling the cloud
it just werks
>>53686413
nice theme, got a link to it or is it selfmade?
>>53686413
my nigga
>>53686376
>because it's stored and streamed locally, sound quality is preserved rather than being degraded
If you're streaming, you're probably streaming to a laptop or a phone, both of which are guaranteed to have a shitty DAC and reverse any gains in sound quality you might have made. You think it's some accident most people can't tell the difference between a 192kbps MP3 and lossless? It's not because they're ignorant, it's because the hardware they're using is consumer-grade. Congratulations, you're wasting bandwidth for literally no reason.
Now, on the other hand, if you have an in-home streaming setup where you're streaming to a dedicated PC with a decent dedicated sound card and a great pair of speakers or headphones, I suppose that's where it matters. You're also in the vanishingly small minority - I would be surprised if 10 people total in this thread have similar needs and have a similar setup.
>>53686617
no one "needs" such a setup but that's no reason not to have or want one, and so what if we're a minority? this is 4chan for gods' sake, being in the majority here means you should really do some reflecting on your life choices
>>53685605
Foobar2k is the only thing I miss about Windows. It's just so good.
>>53686569
google catrox foobar
