>Longtime Chrome user, switched from Firefox because it kept crashing
>decide to try out Chromium because it's mentioned on /g/ all the time
>forget that I'm not logged in, no adblock
>watch Youtube
>expect boring ad, instead malware takes over screen, have to killall chromium to escape
HAHAHA what the fuck? Youtube ads have gotten so bad that they they're literal ransomware now? And people say people who use adblock should feel bad, top kek. Holy fuck, how is this acceptable?
Screenshot? They can do whatever they want on their website

Forgot to take a screenshot, I was kind of half freaking out, half laughing out loud. Basically I clicked on a Youtube video and the screen went blue emulating a BSOD, (funny, considering I'm on Linux) and saying my computer had a virus and I needed to call a number in order to fix my computer. Couldn't close the browser, had to force it from terminal.
Did some googling, found this:
https://blog.malwarebytes.org/fraud-scam/2015/09/malvertising-via-google-adwords-leads-to-fake-bsod/
Must have clicked the ad link instead of the real url by accident, oh well. The page says Google shut it down, obviously not. (Or else someone just decided to try the same thing, how lazy)

I saw something similar (BSOD) with fake YouTube listings in Google search results. It got shut down real quick.
Firefox thread?
So does firefox use chrome extensions now or something? Seriously what is happening to firefox now, they're making a lot of questionable moves lately.
There are people on /g/ who still use Google as their search engine?
(I'm not actually surprised, but using Google sure is stupid.)

Firefox is dying and there is no decent replacement.
