It's true - case in point I made a thread asking what was so great about Android and then asked why the email program is so terrible and unusable.
The response overwhelmingly was that none of them used email, and email was for old people.
Clearly none of them had professional jobs.
I could give a fuck about putting widgets and wallpapers and animated stuff on my phone. It is functional. News, finance, email, texts, web, and a few time killer apps for fun.
3 times I tried android (on 2 premium phones and a tablet) and immediately had app crashing errors, the apps I was used to using daily though the same maker and name, were different and worse on android, and it was bloated with software I'd never use and couldn't remove. Plus it is less secure (at least without tweaks), and when you carry around business details, worth a lot of money that is pretty damn important.
I get people that like to customize things, but when I asked for some examples I was shown strange, ugly, and unintuitive home pages with mismatched icons and fonts and widgets. Really it was pretty lame to me that it was a major selling point for them.
Anyway, the irrational hatred on Apple seems to come down to people who really hate people that can afford to buy what they want, and really don't care about the ultimate bang for the buck.
It stems form jealousy, and other than "customization" really they don't have a single relevant argument about what they will trash iPhones at every opportunity. Its juvenile.
It costs more than my current phone, and if i upgraded to it i'd have less battery and more gayming capability.
