I'm pretty new to Linux, I've installed fedora 23,

I'm pretty new to Linux, I've installed fedora 23, it's all working fine except I can't change my resolution to anything above 1024 x 768. My monitor lists as "unknown display" in display settings.

I'm dual booting and I can get 1920 x 1080 in Windows no problem.

Specs are
Asus Maximus Vii hero
Intel i7 4790k
Nvidia Titan X

I've tried updating the video card driver, passing i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 to the kernel and in grub customizer.

I've tried googling the issue but there's so much shit to wade through. Anyone have any advice or experience with this problem?

For the nvidia proprietary drivers follow this line by line:

Yeah I know, I'm interested in a few other distros, I think I'll try ARCH next. It's an ass to install but I've done it successfully.

>installing Fedora
>wanting to try Arch

rolling-releases are such a fucking hassle

even if you go easy-mode like Manjaro

you should just go with Debian based distro, preferably Ubuntu

I recommend Xubuntu

dont use Kubuntu, its absolute shit and runs like shit(literally voted worst distro by /g/)

also use fucking LTS version, unless you want to constanly want nothing to work

god fucking damn i Linux is a fuckin pain in the ass
