Remove admin rights.
Never let them install flash or java.
Remove Internet Explorer.
Instead an ad blocking software and turn that shit up to eleven.
Group policy disable office macro'd workbooks from running.

Best performance to real time protection ratio.
The bootable disk is also useful

The common sense 2016 meme really bugs me when I ask about antivirus.

As much as common sense exists, you never know when something might slip through, when a webpage could get compromised or software links hijacked and filled with a crypto locker ( transmission 2.90)

It's like people that say if you don't want to get robbed, don't live with niggers. What about when you're sleeping and a Mexican breaks in your house because you didn't have a deadbolt, and an alarm.

Currently I use avast free, but there might be something better out. Please no memes

That's why Common Sense 2016 extended comes with GNU/Linux operating system.

Common Sense runs naively with GNU/Linux and the example you just should is quite valid, but not if you use GNU/Linux (as a part of Common Sense 2016)

>Get an independent distro that suits you best
>Use a secure DNS
>Use flashblock and adblock plus. Privacy Badger and HTTPS enforcer is a must
>Optionally use js blocker extensions
>Never keep youself logged in to any online services like facebook, google or others
>Enable UFW and only install software packages from your distro's repository
>Use an offline password manager, enable 2-stage password authentication if necessary
>Learn and enable SELinux or Apparmor
>Optionally use a proxy VPN
>Use a hardware firewalled router. Ask your ISP to make your IP dynamic instead of static
>Avoid using proprietary software. If you have to, try to sandbox your activity

I can assure you have eliminated atleast more than half of the possible attack surface if you follow my instruction.

Also,

Please understand that security is not a download-click-okay-reboot process. You cannot install security

And the chance of getting a cryptolocker on Linux? OS X was assumed to never get one, and no system is secure. That's really the only thing I don't want.
>>
is there any way to get microsoft security essentials working on wine?
im use ubuntu btw
plz help
>>
>>53669719
Cryptolocker is a platform independent threat. With that said, if you use a secure DNS you probably won't get one.

There is no non-botnet anti-virus with real-time capability except clamAV. So may as well get in bed with putin.

What DNS should I be using? I thought they just translated IPs into website names and vice versa

See, this is a legit question you could start your thread with

It depends on your priority.

>You are paranoid but somewhat unlikely to fall for shitty clickbait
Get one that offers DNSSEC and DNSCRYPT with no logger (Such as OpenDNS)

>You are not paranoid but more likely to fall for clickbaits and phishing sites
Get one that gives a basic protection against online threats. (Such as Yandex)

>You are willing to pay
Open DNS

I started the thread not him. I was wondering what the better windows based av's are. I had avast on there, but in the past 1-2 years avast has been slowly becoming shit. And in the past year they have become botnet. Literally installing some bullshit browsers onto your machine without asking and installing signatures in all your email accounts. Fuck that. I'm done.
