What's the best way to avoid being tracked online?
I'm not referring to obfuscating myself through vpns or proxies. I only want to limit as much marketing stalking as possible. I'm using this setup on OS X and am curious what others may be using:
- eclipse browser+adblock
- running a dns-caching service on an external device on my lan
- little snitch to monitor/block network
Does any of this actually matter since it's easy for tracking algorithms to approximately determine who I am based on IP and browsing habits?
Be an unimportant pleb like you are right now. No one cares enough to track you.

This
Also never leave any private informations about you. Delete everything related to you. Also use protonmail or encrypted emails.

You have to block scripts and your browser fingerprint basically, that and use VPNs at random. Also avod running windows 8 or 10 or an xbox one as the marketing tracking is built into the kernel and even the microphone/camera while in standby/"off" mode.
isn't a browser fingerprint sharable by third party tracking systems? Therefore, wouldn't one have to use a new browser every time they visited amazon, google, facebook, etc?

your thought process is there, but you completely off where it counts.

Consider a network anonymiser, but refrain from logging in to personal accounts when doing so; use DNSSEC with DNSCrypt on your resolving-only name server
