xfce is not so great, but it is not bad either. It's the most rational choice you could made for a DE desu. Other ones are either bloated or ugly.

xfce fails to recognise the user's preffered "default" display.
it will always default (and therefore put panels, icons and new windows) to the leftmost screen (the screen closer to xrandr 0,0 coords)

I have had multiple monitors on every Xfce install I've made. Only thing that sucks are the Gtk limitations of it (primary monitor always defaults to the top leftmost, which screws up icon arrangement and such)
