well none of the botnets and advertisers were ever going to respect it, they just grabbed the first excuse to ignore it and keep tracking everyone everywhere. Turning it on does no harm though, so you might as well.
It slows down the time it takes for you to connect to a website by just a tiny fraction.
So I have it turned off.

i try to minimize the identifying headers my browser sends
even though i am chromium on linux, i force browser to send chrome on windows headers etc.
do not track is pointless, get an adblocker and use a crontab to clear cookies
just turn it off
they don't care, and telling them you don't want to be tracked is still meta data and information about your mindset.
I wish there was a 'go fuck yourself' option.
