That is perfectly fine as long you don't care to go above 1080p.

>970

Not that you could even go above 1080p but just FYI.
>>
>>53656289
You can go above 1080 with a VGA cable. I've done 2048x1536 with one.
>>
>>53656289
Uh no, VGA is not fine for 1080p are you retarded? Yes it works but that doesn't mean it's good. buy a $5 DVI cable and your quality increases a lot... using VGA is shoe on head retarded.
>>
>>53658356
and why?
>>
>>53659164
Not same guy, but interference, an echoing of images, wired ass problems that occurs like colors changing for no really good reason because there is no error checking.
DVI is definitely better.

VGA is analogue. It looks like shit compared to DVI

Me too, but a 980, I also use a CRT.

At least it doesn't have HDMI's limitations.

DP, DVI and HDMI are all the same dipshit

I've been using VGA on with my screen for the last 8 years. It just works and none of above mentioned issues ever occurred.

Display Port is not the same, very different interface. They are all digital signals though. So in that respect, yea.
>>
>>53655304
Not surprised coming from a 970 owner.
>>
>>53662116
Get a monitor with 1080p or better res.
Connect with VGA. Look at the picture, how crisp it is (or lack there of) and the color range.

Now try with DVI or HDMI, or Display Port.
You will likely notice an increase in image quality and clarity. Better color range, etc. Unless you're one of those guys who are half blind.
>>
>>53662186
You can passively convert between DVI/HDMI - DisplayPort, the similarity in the protocols, works out of the box.

This meme is so lame.

What do if a 1080p monitor only has a VGA input?

A double-blind test is needed for this. This sounds like one of those Monster Cable thing.

Doesn't VGA even have worse colors than DVI and HDMI or something like that?
>>
>>53667319
>Whats wrong with vga?
analog, subject to interference, can't do anything bigger than 1080p
>>
>>53667720
naa vgea has smooder graphics
>>
>>53667565
No, see better cables ACTUALLY WORK with VGA. Because VGA is analogue, the signal degrades. Dvi d and HDMI are digital, so the signal's the same at both ends.
>>
>>53666516
audibly kek'd
>>
>>53655304
How is that even possible are you fucking retarded?
>>
wait im using an hdmi on my r9 390 at 1080p

If you have a shit-tier vga cable, sure.

But don't use a shit-tier vga cable.
>>
>>53662149
I guess I didn't, and I'm betting the joke (if there is one) is stupid.
>>
>>53662253

Are you basing this experience on the Xbox 360 vga cable? Because it has issues like this unless you use the official cable, but it's not like this for PCs.

VGA cables do have limits, but they're higher than 1080.
>>
>>53667720
Not unless you're talking about 10-bit color. For normal color VGA identical to DVI and HDMI.
>>
>>53675352
*Cheap* VGA cables can cause such issues too, while good quality cables doesn't have any issues.
