mpv is already open source and happy to accept contributions.
The other are closed source because of the authors' decision to refuse cooperation.
mpv thread? I found someone who makes Windows builds of mpv that isn't the guy linked to on the official site, should I use his builds? He has a nice update script and more up-to-date versions.
