I dunno if that's true, but probably will be because of safe browsing (but it sends metadata to Google servers). You can still disable safebrowsing, and use ublock malware filters to have the same effect with no botnet.

Partly true: no suggestions are made unless you explicitly say and autocompletion is only made if your search engine supports it. Thus you just need to change your search engine with something like Disconnect, StartPage or Searx

Firefox is a good choice, but you may still you have to disable/configure stuff. I use a heavily configured Icecat for daily browsing and if something brokes ungoogled chromium
