He does so by cultivating through various stages, using various means, by absorbing the world Qi or Energy in whatever manner.
It can incorporate some Western mythological monsters and magic with Eastern mythology and Buddhism and Taoism and other shit.
MC goes rompastompa through the story and is on frequent killing sprees.
Some of the novels like Xian Ni, have an MC who is basically lead and taught by an evil demon and he becomes what can only be described as a Sith Lord in that world.
Romance in these novels is mostly an afterthought, because fuck romance. MC either fucks, rapes, or doesn't give a shit, and the real focus is MC killing and dominating everything.

I'm so sorry OP. Use OpenBSD, best OGL gaming performance on the planet. Unix philosophy, zero bloat. Commands don't do frivolous redundant things, and this ends up saving on disk space and overhead. Works with most Linux applications with the addition of Unix applications. Package managers are always closer to Gentoo's portage, and you can even play Linux certified Steam games at 4 times the framerate due to good driver support. Also, it's more free than Linux, in that it allows the users to change, share, and sell content without being forced to distribute huge loads of source code.
