So what does /g/ think of coreboot?

That's fast!!!
>>
>>53643906
It is a nice project, very important, my notebook runs Libreboot (with is basically a distribution of coreboot).
>>
Prefer hardware that runs on Libreboot as that project runs blob free (that's really the only appeal of an alternate bios for me). The faster boot time is nice but I don't consider it a feature I care much about
>>
Not free enough.

I had to write a boot manager in assembly a long time back.My respect for theses guys is off the charts.

it suggested me

He is adorable.

I think the awkwardness is because he is obviously not speaking in his first language. But this is a fascinating area.
>>
I know this project from at least 5 years ago.
At first I'm very interested because I want to mod my bios, but unfortunately it's actually a joke project.
The amount of motherboard it supports is very small.

>but unfortunately it's actually a joke project.
why don't you try to do better?
>>
>>53648465
Doesn't look very small to me.
https://www.coreboot.org/Supported_Motherboards

If your board is not there then this video will show you how to add it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wPskpLHFIo

People have got it running on so many boards not listed on supported board.
>>
>>53643906
It doesn't list my motherboard, so it probably won't work.
>>
>>53651169
What's your motherboard?
>>
>>53651115
>>53651169
the Coreboot project is a good project, but their site is a big mess. There are motherboards listed with have no information on their page, there are pages with fully functional motherboards with instructions that are not listed.
>>
>>53651266
it doesn't really have much of an appeal outside the technically competent audience
Libreboot is actually better documented and has precompiled binaries for all the boards it supports (very few).
>>
Too bad goytel and amd is making it impossible to use a blob free bios of your choice on pretty much any new hardware
>>
>>53651504
Not true. There are libreboot motherboards supporting the latest AMD Opteron
>>
>>53651206
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
>>
>>53651540
https://libreboot.org/faq/#amd
>It is extremely unlikely that any post-2013 AMD hardware will ever be supported in libreboot, due to severe security and freedom issues; so severe, that the libreboot project recommends avoiding all modern AMD hardware. If you have an AMD based system affected by the problems described below, then you should get rid of it as soon as possible.
>>
>>53651632
Is that a property of the processor or of the motherboard?
>>
The chances that it completely bricks your computer are just way too high.
>>
>>53652961
More a property of AMD being shit.
>>
>>53652961
I'm not going to read and look up the definition of hardware to you
