Ok /g/
I would like everyone who's interested to have a nice, peaceful conversation. What are the pros and cons of a rooted Android and a Jailbroken iOS device?
I'll start with just the good parts.
Both:
>free music and apps
>tweaks
>themes
>browse full file system over USB
>custom keyboards, ringtones, and button shapes
>third party apps
>terminal and SSH
>there will always be people working on both, even if they're discontinued (see the whited00r project)
Android devices:
>custom ROMs/Recovery
>huge range of hardware options
>wireless charging
>bigger screens and batteries
>better displays
iOS devices:
>iTunes for easy restores/music and video transfer
>great security
>easy to use gestures and buttons (I hate touch keys)
>best fingerprint sensor
>super thin and still manages to have ok battery life
>just looks nice
>easy to find cases
>reversible lightning connector
>comes with some bloatware, but it doesn't significantly slow the device

I guess I did throw some opinions in there. Ignore them.

>Jailbroken iOS device?
>i use a massive gaping privilege escalation security hole exploit to get root privilege and basic android features and then prevent apple from patching it so i can keep those features, while inviting russian hackers to freely steal all of my login/passwords and data
>this is how utterly shit stock iOS is and what i'd rather settle with so i can "break out of jail"
>>53641779
>let's have a discussion based purely on facts
>is popular product A better than popular product B?
Fuck off
>>53641869
>prevent apple from patching it
How? I don't control what Apple does.
>russian hackers freely steal all of my login/passwords and data
I have like 4 tweaks installed from the BigBoss repo. My device is perfectly secure. If some faggy russians can get into my stuff, please, post my phone number right here.

This is not a technical help forum stop being a faggot and getting mad because someone didn't read previous replies.

Don't be mad because you were called out for being a dick who doesn't read things. I might be able to understand if there were more than 30 replies. You have no excuse.

Android Rooted Cons, Fact Edition:
>No open source root for Android 5+ (you are trusting root to an unaccountable third party)
>Rooting breaks OTA updates on many devices
>Rooting breaks the pay with your phone thing
>Rooting makes your device less secure
>>53642211
Wot? That's partially true, most of the time you can do it from your PC without help from chinks.
>>53641779
Why can't they just give us the option to enable root access in developer settings? Why do we have to use privilege escalation exploits?
>>53642211
>open source root
cyanogenmod
>less secure
install a custom ROM and get security updates long after your manufacturer/carrier stops delivering them
