Uh, just stumbled upon a K7XX for sale in my country, these are pretty rare around here, does /hpg/ has any opinions about it? How does it compare to HD600 for example? It seems only Innerfidelity and Changster offer measurements.
>what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
yeah yeah, i know, just curious, not trying to shitpost or anything.
Probably not going to buy it, but it did caught my attention.

Dropping it here in case you guys didn't already know: Amazon has a deal going for HD598s, $152.95. That's $100 less than what the Sennheiser price is.

Checking around a bit and it seems like they have some kind of sale going on if you're looking for something else. That's for the US side of things, not sure for everyone else.

Superlux HD668B's (being my only headphone to date, I like their sound signature, but I find them to be cold and analytical, would like something more "feel the music" kind of fun without destroying the analytical nature completely. I plan on getting the O2 and ODAC with new headphones. The 668Bs are currently plugged into a rather bulky AV Receiver I'd like to get rid of.

>>53637942
Thank you, another recommendation I just receiver from a friend is for the HE-400i's. Both are looking rather appealing. Anyone with experience with both, able to compare the two?
>>
>>53634497
>You bought a sound card? Waste of money right there.
it's 30€ and it does the job
sure, I could I have bought a e10k for like 60-65€, but it'd do the exact same at this point (well, and a physical knob which would be nice), while taking up more space

sure, if I got a 600 ohm I'd regret that 30€, but even then I could give it to someone else if they have dac problems

I've heard the DGX is also able to drive some headphones much better than onboard
>>
>>53638079
400i has a flatter response in the lower frequencies and is a planar. DT880 is more comfortable but has a harsher treble response.
>>
Ayy, what would give me the flattest frequency response, sub $40 IEMs or sub $40 headphones? I'm looking at the Xiaomi Piston 3s wrt IEMs and the Tascam TH-02 wrt headphones right now
>>
>>53638193
IEMs will always have an easier time getting a flat frequency response. They don't struggle with subbass and treble linearity like headphones do.
>>
>>53638066
So were the schitt amp gear but those turn out to be decent years after

The q701 truly turn out to be a good pair of headphones that are durable.

Got Sony MDR7506 and using them in my pc.

Okay, I need two different headphones, one for gaming, one for listening on the go.

First:
>Budget: $125 dollary doos
>Location: Dorm
>Source: Computer
>Preferred type of headphone: Full
>Open or closed: Closed
>Comfort level: Comfy :^)
>Preferred tonal balance: neutral
>Preferred music: vidyagaems
>Past headphones: Shitty plantronics gayming headset

Also, does anyone recommend alternatives to modmic?

Second:
>Budget: $100 dollary doos
>Location: Public
>Source: Phone
>Preferred type of headphone: IEM
>Open or closed: N/A
>Comfort level: Passable
>Preferred tonal balance: neutral, but emphasis on bass is fine
>Preferred music: drum and bass, lots of Liquicity tracks
>Past headphones: Sony bass boosted earphones, RHA 450i

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I know a guy with the HD650 and a Xonar STX and he's perfectly happy with the setup, the only thing you'd probably be missing from a 'standard' setup would be a physical volume control, which is very convenient.

To connect an amp you'd simply run RCA cables to it from the STX. (Red and White sockets)

not anon, I've got an X2 and its build quality seems fairly solid.
The K7xx looks comfier though because it is lighter and has larger ear cups.

The primary advantages of the X2 are the 3.5mm jack which can be useful for easily adding in a mic if needed and easily replacing the cable, and being able to run off most on board audio solutions without needing an external amplifier as it adds only a minor improvement.

I wish I got the K7xx off massdrop though, costs about the same if not slightly more expensive here to get a K7xx for $200 and some external amp like the fiio e10 for another $100 or so.

I've heard the K7xx has better soundstage and sounds more neutral with higher detail in the mids. Though some people have been complaining the treble is a little harsh. That can be easily fixed with a little EQ fuckery.

I don't mind the X2s they sounded a little weird and fatiguing at first, but I've adjusted after listening to them for a good while. My biggest complaint would be their retarded detacheable ear cup design and price.

I mean fuck me they currenty cost an arm and leg to replace. Like $80 or so per ear cup from phillips, outrageous.
>>
>>53653394
