>got a bunch of cheap flash drives for $1 each
>there's a read only iso9660 partition with an autorun.inf exe
>tried gparted but it only rewrites the other partition, doesn't even detect the iso9660
What the fuck
How do I delete this literal botnet
>babbys first ubuntu
HEY FAGGOT TRY BASH DD RM SHIT WHAT IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME ON A COMPUTER I BET YOU'RE REAL FUCKIN' EXCITED THANKS FOR POSTING
>>53628466
I NEED TO DO A WHAT
try dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdX bs=1 bitch
>>53628788
did a fdisk -l
no idea what the fuck I'm doing tbqh
It's been formatting for like 20 mins
>>53628918
zoz
Wipefs everything before repartitioning
>wipefs --all /dev/sdb
Then use parted and do
>mklabel msdos
>mkpart primary ntfs 0% 100%
quit from parted
and then do mkfs.ntfs /dev/sdb
ez
>>53628959
>>53629036
quit it
>>53629019
Alright I'll try this if the dd fails, assuming it ever finishes
>>53629104
that's not how it works
>>53628918
Try with a specified block size, 512B is a good choice.
1- plug in usb drive
2 open cmd
3 execute diskpart
4 list disk
5 select disk x
6 clean
7 done, now you can save your cp in the usb drive
>>53629275
> cmd
Have you ever used any linux distribution ?
>>53629311
Was just in case that OP uses botnet 7/10
dd didn't work
The aids partition still there
>>53629418
Is it read-only ?
Some (very) cheap drives go read-only after some time.
>>53629450
idk man can you even make specific partitions read only?
Googling "iso 9660 erase usb" ends up with a bunch of people with no solutions.
Install windows and download the right software off flashboot.ru or its chink equivalent. Why doesn't anyone know this?
>>53628918
>not manually specifying a file system block size
You must be new here :^)
>>53629563
If only a specific partition was read-only, the dd would have erased it.
It's the whole disk that is read-only, because of its firmware or its flash.
>>53629604
yeah specified it after
Went from 3MB/s to like 30MB/s
>>53629579
>ru
goddammit is this going to give me more botnet
You can literally overwrite the flash memory. Get a 9V (Or whatever safe V is) connect to battery snap, run it down all the pins of the EEPROM.
Then, wipe a magnet over the EEPROM.
Lastly, You could flash over it with an arduino, but at that points, you've exceeded the cost of the USB
>>53629652
Probably, but it's the only way to do it. Maybe install xp or something on a partition
>>53628427
That's how I do. I hope it helps:
umount /dev/sdb1
fdisk /dev/sdb
d
n
1
<Enter>
<Enter>
<Enter>
t
7
w
mkntfs /dev/sdb1
ntfslabel /dev/sdb1 Name
The botnet meme is getting rather old.
I think that partition is isolated by the firmware, altough I'm just guessing never seen a pendrive with that
>>53628918
>zeroing a flash drive
it'll be a while.
>>53629708
Everything I try is only working on the big partition. Nothing touches the botnet partition.
I'm starting to think sdb isn't even the botnet partition. maybe it isn't even listed by fdisk.
>>53630008
>I'm starting to think sdb isn't even the botnet partition.
OP i would be shitting my pants if i were you, this is not a joke.
always double and triple check you are working with the right drive/partition
I've seen these before. The USB drive is presenting the ISO as a virtual CD drive. Surprise, surprise, you can't write to that in the usual way. I've heard rumors you can use patched wodim to write to some of these, but it probably depends on the USB firmware.
>>53629920
10-30 minutes depending on shit it is
after that you should start to worry
Ur fucked desu senpai
>>53630311
nah I'm working on a disposable shitpad with nothing valuable on it.
I'll try the other anons ru method next. I just wanna solve this out of principle now since I already wasted so much time on it.
>>53630441
kill -HUP the dd process will tell you how far along it is.
>>53630396
>The USB drive is presenting the ISO as a virtual CD drive
yeah that's exactly what this shit is. It even shows up as a cd drive.
it auto runs and executes some awfully questionable exe
>>53629920
you can make dd print i/o progress withkill -s USR1 `pidof dd`
>>53628918
try with bs=1M
should be MUCH faster
Try to install gentoo on it.
>>53628427
U3 remover
