From the article
>> One of the terrorists pulled out a laptop, propping it open against the wall, said the 40-year-old woman. >>When the laptop powered on, she saw a line of gibberish across the screen: “It was bizarre — he was looking at a bunch of lines, like lines of code. There was no image, no Internet,” she said. Her description matches the look of certain encryption software, which ISIS claims to have used during the Paris attacks

Which begs the question: is there a way to make terminal run inside a browser and look like a website? Like a news article?
That'd be pretty cool.

I assume some kind of self-hosted dynamic website that runs a terminal emulator in the background?

no you do not. You just run
sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

so people think you're 1337. You WANT to be labeled a nerd for your (non-existent) terminal skills, but really you're getting ostracized because you're 300lbs and you're wearing a fedora and trenchcoat. They think you're a nerd because when that qt in class asked you what you thought of her iphone (polite small-talk) you went full autism and gave her a 10-minute rant about how much you hate apple products

You're a fucking nerd and a jackass but not because of your terminal or stupid questions

Why the hell would I run that?
Call updates individually by program so you can internally cross check compatibility issues one at a time, else you are going to have a lot more trouble isolating which programs are working together to make your setup unstable.
Also you want to call from specified multiple severs to help insure data integrity and double check the updated doesn't have any malware.

And for your information I was 300lb, but lost it over two years ago after I made some changes to my lifestyle. I am now a healthy 160lb with some tone muscles finally showing. When you realize how similar the human body is to a dell enterprise server it is not hard to fix.

And why would I waste my time telling anyone who owns an iProduct about how bad they are? If they were foolish enough to buy it, then they are already lost and I won't waste my time lecturing them on their mistakes.

Also I never asked how to do it, I know how to edit my settings. In fact I am thinking of making a basic skin change setting for my Emacs later today if I have time. Probably take a day or two more to make a fully believe dynamic skin that would completely fool everyone, but layout and color changes to make it look similar at a distance, well that is more like 20 minute tops.

that is fucking impressive and I am happy for you.

All I am saying is terminal use doesn't get you ostracized by itself, I use linux and the only times it has made me look like a nerd is when other nerds come up to me and are like "oh dude what distro is that" and we have that whole talk, you know what I mean. Afterwards I may look like a nerd but that was entirely my own fault + it doesn't matter because being a nerd is cool in 2016, we don't live in an age where nerds are uncool.

It's actually on the same level as being a musician desu, so long as you arent a MLP loving fedora-wielding sperg
>>

No, I just wrote it.

Why is it every time I stop to take time to respond to people in a thoughtful manner I get asked this?

Do you think there is a pasta that deals specifically with each rebuttal to the prior post in such a accurate manner?
I mean I know the internet is big, trust me I know I reached the end of it once. But even if it did have it, hunting it down would take more time and effort then just writing it myself.

What kind of encryption remains unknown, and is among the details that Mr. Abdeslam’s capture could help reveal.

It's almost as if they are just trying to include the world encryption as often and nonsensical as possible. This almost seems like propaganda in light of the Apple vs FBI shit, trying to make encryption seem like some evil tool only terrorists need.

Yes, I will agree it take less time and rarely gives people an issues with the major distros. But after some of the issues I have had I don't take chances.

Thanks

Yes, I know what you mean I had that same stuff happen. It was nice when people actually understood what I was working on.

But then I graduated and moved to a "real" job where I deal with stupid management. We have two lists of shipments and received goods, every time they don't match we lose a lot of money. Suggested we get the computer to compare the lists, it won't catch everything but it should save use a few thousand dollars a day. I am informed that IT is working on the development of such technology, but it is still years out. ... ... ... I was honestly speechless. I am now call "Scotty" because of my "fanciful" visions of the future where our company lets the computers do the work. The companies dead, I can't fix it.

I don't know I have met some nice fedora wearing brony, but then again I met some not so nice ones.

>And it's possible that encryption wasn't a major player in the attack. The information coming out of Paris from the investigation of last fall's violence indicated the terrorists primarily relied on disposable burner phones, not encrypted communication, to pull off the attacks. If today's attack turns out to be related to the Paris attack, we may end up seeing some of the same strategies.

I don't know the formats as I don't work with computers much. They are very paranoid about hackers. I actually have different long-in accounts to run different programs, which honestly just means have to reset the computer every few minutes to switch accounts to use the other programs. At least everyone has completely overpowered i7 towers with 8 GB of ram to log in for their digital time cards and a few other things which any Pentium II could handle.
Anyway there are three types of ID codes that are all straight number combinations along with the text names which are different for each type despite being the same product. While I don't know how to handle the text part as my code skills aren't really that good, I do know I could at least export the number part as raw data and reformat it into a usable form I could drop in excel or something. Set up a function and have the system print a list of all conflicting ID numbers for further inspection. Not as nice as it could be, but totally worth a days work to setup.

At this point I am wondering if there is some image recognition software I could sneak in on my personal laptop with some USB camera. Snap shot, scan, upload, sort kind of thing. But that would likely get me fired.
