I haven't used windows in a long time but when I started using linux I was so impressed that you could install almost anything without a need for restarting. The only time I need to restart linux is for a kernel update.
Does windows still ask you to restart after you install something?
Developing software for linux is so painfree and easy that I don't even want to bother attempting to deal with windows for providing windows builds, because I'm sure as hell not going to get my makefile working on windows.

I have to restart linux for drivers too. I guess windows is different now. I think there is less things to install now since everything is browser based. The last thing I install was a libre office because I forgot to install it after my last upgrade.
