Here we talk about the form of the shit we use, and how it's either made or not made with human use in mind.

Vertical mouses versus trackball: experiences and impressions. Which is more comfortable and which is less likely to cause permanent damage to your wrist?

I've never used a trackball, but my vertical mouse is comfy as hell. How are trackballs for muh gaymen? I'm considering getting one, but don't wanna switch back and forth.

Trackball = master of tight spaces... 15/10
Pic related trackball is by far the best i've ever used in my life

Never used a vertical mouse but switching to a trackball ended years of wrist pain pretty much instantly. I'd never go back to a regular mouse after using this.

>>53619325
Gaming is fine but I only play RPGs and strategy. FPS might be difficult.
>>
I use this, OP. Only in white. It's pretty good, and I love having a dedicated third mouse button. I copy/paste with it all the time now. The side scroll seems to be more comfortable on my wrist than the traditional wheel, and the rocker switch was "interesting" at first but I got used to it. I just wish it was somehow a trackball; a stationary mouse was definitely more comfortable (but the finger wheel on my Trackman was causing me pain)

Better pic.

Also

>MS Natural Ergonomic 4000
>Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3.

Still been feeling pain in my wrist but my guess is that I slept with my hands twisted for a few days due stress.

Been using M570 for years.
I'm no korean pro but I literally got better at FPS the day I made the switch, zero adjustment time.
Diablolikes with rapid clicking while aiming were uncomfortable at first tho

I would unironically use that dragon dildo if it had a pointing device and scrolling mechanism; it looks very comfdorable
>>53620079
Is your spacebar sticky? I had to stop using mine because of that, and the numpad forcing me to either reach across my body or out to the right. Tried a mech, realized I needed tenting, got the newer sculpt with the chiclet keys and am pretty happy

really want something like this though

I am thinking about getting this keyboard and ball.

has anyone used a foot pedal for clicking? i have heard they help by reducing mouse use.
>>
Got me one of these. Keyboard is decent, I like scissor keys. Mouse could be better but is at least an improvement over regular flat mice.

My old mouse I use with my left hand. Load balancing hands.

>>53620814
I imagine footpads would help. I like using a trackpad because there's little clicking force, so a foot pedal should do the same.
>>
>>53621168
I had to switch to my left hand. I was surprised at how weak my left was even though i furiously jack it with that arm daily.

>Is your spacebar sticky?
Nope, I have two keyboards of the exact same model and previously owned a third of a previous version and they all worked fine. The older one was actually the best.

Really, looks nice and stylish, but I remember buying pic related and it was a horrible experience

Literally I don't understand how can make keyboards so small, and I'm my hands are just above average.

should i just get trackball in OP or is there something better for pretty cheap?
do most people prefer the ones where you operate the ball with your thumb or index finger? i think it would be hard to play counter strike with the latter
>>
>>53621693
i have the logitech from the OP, its pretty ok for a first trackball to test it out. I dont like it for games that are mouse heavy though.

i found it to be too stiff even after shaving the plastic around the ball down like people recommend. the thumb ball isnt as accurate as the finger ball i hear, that is what i am going to try next since its supposed to be easier on the wrist also.

Older logitechs also work nicely. Mine is pic related. I also have a 12 x 12 Wacom tablet used for drawing as well as shooters where faster movements are more desirable.

I'm 6ft and the Sculpt seems appropriately sized. I don't know what's up with that keyboard, looks like they eliminated too many buttons.

would this do okay for general use and a little csgo? some of the reviews say the click takes too much pressure and you cant turn fast enough for fps games
>>

>>53621693
Index finger ones are controlled by two or 3 fingers, not just the index.

I used this exact track ball mouse for a while and it gave me pain in my palm. I also used a joystick like the one in the pic. I found both of them unwieldy and I would accidentally rest a finger on the click button by mistake too often.

Joystick mouses in particular are retarded. Instead of flicking your wrist a little, you have to move your whole arm. Even if you had wrist problems you could just wear a cast and move your whole arm like a robot while using a regular mouse.

how long until i am able to replace my hands with robot hands

>>53621928
I can confirm Orbit buttons feel spongy/mushy and hard to press. I really wouldn't recommend it for FPS games. For general use its fine but there are much better trackballs out there although more expensive.

I'm the exact opposite. I can use a Sony controller for hours with no ill effects but any Xbox controller pinches a nerve or something and makes my pinky and ring fingers fall asleep.

Opinions on this? It's supposed to force your hand on a correct position
>>
>>53624470
I have one. It's OK, you get less wrist pressure than a regular mouse. You might want a gel pad / gel wrist brace as well. The thumb space isn't that good though, it doesn't quite align or something, I can't tell what it is. Also the thumb buttons are stiff, don't bother with them.
>>
Need to get a new mouse, are trackballs a meme or actually something worth trying?

i've always used a m110 Logitech mouse i have 7 left in my closet and i dont know if they still sell them but, they're pretty comfy and cheap for playing vidya, they break after a year or 2 of constant use tho

I switched to my SideWinder sometime ago to give it another shot, I really like how it feels but the keys are too close to each other and the caps are too small for my fingers... And only after I bought it (bought it in at a local store) I found about it's bigger brother, might give it a shot.

I love anything that has the scroll wheel elsewhere because I don't see how you can call something ergonomic with scroll wheel in the middle
>>
>>53619368
Trackball fps is amazing. Takes some getting used to but once you do it's more precise and feels awesome.
>>
>>53621693
Full hand ones are a lot better than thumb trackballs. Kensington 2 button is amazing. But looking back I wish I went with 4 button.
>>
>>53621949
They do one with four buttons. If you search the highest I've found was 16 but that was in a render centre.

>>53621928
Yes it works with csgo. It takes a bit (ok a lot) of getting use to but once you do get use to it you won't be able to go back.
>>
>>53625033
Worth buying certainly.
