Rate my build.

The aim for this build is a solid 1080p gaming system. The goal is for this system to run any game at 1080p on max settings with no speed bumps or problems. I expect this build to last 3-5 years.

The only thing I am still tripped up on is the GPU. I may go with a 980 if you guys recommend it. I feel that 980ti may be overkill for 1080p, plus it would put a big bump in my budget.

Also, are there any recommended 1080p monitors out right now that are better than the one I have listed? I may go with a Dell one because you guys are always flipping out over the Ultrasharps. Im willing to pay an extra penny for a solid monitor that will last me a long time. The monitor has to be 1080p, IPS and 5mm or below response time.

What do you guys think?

Solid build M9, check out the R9 390 for better performance at the same price or the R9 380x to save a bit and still get good 1080 performance.

Did you completely miss the sticky or what? Memebuild/10

Dude you have no fucking clue what you're talking about, not everyone can have an Ethernet jack exactly where they need one. And that Xeon is a great gaming chip, it's literally and i7 with the GPU disabled and OP can save money by buying it. I wish you stupid fucks would just leave /g/ already.

>xeon
fills the gap between the i5 and i7 so its good for me.

>970
The one thing I am really tripped up on

>wifi on a desktop
I wish i didnt have to either but thats the way it is

>buying windows
better safe than sorry from the viruses I guess

Thanks.

I am just hesitant with amd cards because I have used nvidia my entire life, so I am far more familiar with them.

Right, you can save yourself $200 on the build giving yourself room to step up to a 980 if you use Linux instead. Even with some of the ports being immature and losing a bit of performance the higher end graphics card will make up for it.

The 6600K performs slightly better for the same price and is unlocked. There is no excuse for not running Ethernet to somewhere you're going to permanently locate a desktop pc.

Who gives a flying fuck games aren't cpu bottled necked any more why would you waste time overclocking? The Z170 board for that 6600k will make it more expensive then if he sticks with what he's got.
>>
Fuck why does the 970 sell so much despite 3.5 and the superior R9 390? Are gamers just as retarded as applefags or something?
>>

>>53617695
does cpu really make a difference with gaming? The only cpu intensive thing I can see myself doing is Dolphin. Xeon seems good enough for that.

>>53617760
again, its because I used nvidia my whole life. if I can find a decent 390 card I will use it instead. Or just bite the bullet and get a 980
>>
>>53617760
970 has almost half the TDP.
>>
Anyone have experience with these two monitors? I will probably go with the Dell because you guys seem to love their monitors.

Opinion on this?

MSI's 390 is great. They really stepped up their game from the 200 series. Sapphire's runs slightly quieter but it's much longer.

fuck off dumb redditor
>>
>>53617760
Because AMD cards are filled with reviews from crash and burn experiences, meanwhile Nvidia cards are pretty consistent in stability.
>>
why not just get an i5 6400 and a z170 board with non k sky OC.
>>
What would last me longer: a 390 or a 970/980?
>>
>>53617533
I'm planning on using the i5. How does the Xeon fair in performance and price?
>>
Are you really going to pay $200 for home premium when you can get pro for $100 on any other site?
If the money's worth the preference then go for it.
>>
>>53619065
as long as its windows 7 I dont care
>>
If youre going to go xeon, gp with he haswell refresh version. 1231v3 is can be found for cheaper not to mention 145 bucks on a board is pretty insane when you can get a b85 board for 50 ish dollars.
>>
>>53617533
Just get the 390. I switched from nvidia and I have no regrets.
>>
Rate my build plox. And fuck all you spouting the 390 meme.
