I'd really wish you guys would recommend something decent though. I'm not expecting audiophile level sound quality but just something decent for around 100$ or less if possible

Thinking of getting Dad a pair of Sennheiser HD 555. Someone is selling them used for about $40 (Australia) in very good condition. I can't seem to find any decent budget open over ear comfortable headphones that Dad will use for gym and walks. In ear headphones are a no go sadly and the good takstar, superlux, samson etc have a month+ wait for delivery.
Good deal/idea?
>>
>>53616615
The reason we usually suggest "headphone + separate mic" instead of headsets is because for the same amount of money you would spend on a headset you can get cheaper headphones and mics that are actually better both in sound quality and more durability, you don't really need to be an audiophile to see the benefits of this kind of deal.
Just fill the form and include a request for a cheap mic, you will be surprised by how easy the suggestions will come.

Would this be the best headphones for traveling? Everytime I go on google this is always in the top of the list.
I listen mostly to EDM (house, old school trance) and some rap

If not suggestions are welcome. Keep in mind it should be somewhat portable, durable enough, and must not need an amp

There isn't that much to improve, of course there are new models every now and then, but there are many older models that are still great, take the MDR v6 for example, it's being an industry standard for 30 years.

Is the massdrops website worth? I mean, I don't understand it at all, but seems like is not great for non popular items.

Another question is that I would to get a Piston 3 since it is recommended a lot here, but I also readed lot of places sell "fakes". How can I know if sites like Amazon are trustable to buy? I really really like to get them.

Bit of an odd question but somewhat related to headphones.

Should I turn off my Amp/DAC when I am not using them for extended (say 8 hours) amount of time?
And should I unplug my headphone from it while its turned off?
>>
>>53619586
Depends on the drop and where you live. Some "drops" are seriously good, others are no better than Amazon prices and for people living outside of US the shipping, import tax and VAT usually kills the deal.

>>53620869
There are some measurements.

>>53618599
I hope nobody is.

>>53618724
There are plenty of video tutorials available on how to do that. I remember them being attached from three points and you just pull them off from those points.

Leather pads would alter the sound. Without measurements it's impossible to say how though.
>>
>>53621327
If SS, no, best kept left on so it's always at optimal running temperature. Tubes however should be turned off when not in use as they do degrade quite quickly.

>And should I unplug my headphone from it while its turned off?
Shouldn't matter too much unless the amp is really poorly designed. I have a habit of only plugging them in after setting the volume all the way down first.

Sound cards are shit. A dedicated external Amp and DAC are better choices if your budget for headphones is higher.
You want your audio chain to be as transparent as possible without using a sound card.
Surround sound cards don't have accurate sound reproduction unless you disable all enhancements.
Buying expensive Hi-Fi stereo headphones and using it on a surround sound card defeats its purpose.
You're just making it sound colored and different.

Try to EQ your headphone in 60 Hz down by 10-15db. That is "no bass" on open headphone. As comfort, it depends on how your body is. Closed one tends to easily feels hot due to trapped heat. So if you're easily sweaty or in the hot room or its summer outside. Closed one can be uncomfortable. But its feel comfy to using headphone for walking around in fall season though.

Yeah I see what you mean, like sometimes when I'm listening, if a female vocalist sings an especially high note, it's piercing (but that is a vey rare occurrence). I liked the sound of the M50 but the MSR7 just has that much more clarity, and I love the brightness because it adds energy to the sound. Bass is not lacking either; it's tight, refined and can be felt. Overall they charge the music with an energy I had not heard before.

>>53624979
You won't find an open AT with the bass you're used to from the M50x anyway. Why even bother when you can just eq them to be flat(ish) anyway and change back to stock response whenever?
>>
>>53625039
I used a PC350 before, then switched to the CKX9i earphones. I understand open headphones have lower bass.

It would be also cool just to try the two out and decide, but it's just not possible, there is no showroom around here. And if I buy the 700x, I cannot just return it and get the 900x.
>>
>>53625056
Then don't risk getting a product you might hate and just eq what you have. A popular headphone like the M50x is bound to have an eq conveniently from a simple search. And from there you can start playing around with your preferences by changing the sliders and shit.

Bitch literally borrowed headphones so that she could be a bitch.

AD900x certainly didn't worth the double price of AD700x. If you're insistent for buying AT open headphones, your option isn't that much.
>>
>>53625104
Well there is only the RH70x for open, but that's around the 900x's price range. And it needs an AMP, so they say.

/mu/ said the 900x is bass, and 700x is no bass.
That's why I am so confused, like if I have zero bass response in the 700x - I could just use my laptop's speakers, or a 10$ logitech headphones, if there is really no bass from it.

>>53625103
> listening to music while in library
what the actual fuck?
>>
>>53625119
>on headphones
Why not, mang? I come here to work and when I work, I want to listen to music. 1+1 = fun
>>
>>53625119
Both of it is "no bass" anyway. AD900x looks like only have 1-2Db humpier than AD700x, and it is easily EQ'd.
>>
What is with the capitalise amp meme? It's not like it stands for anything, unlike DAC.
>>
>>53625157
>AMPing
>>
>>53625131
Oh you work there... then it makes sense.
So how comes you have no spares?
Even smartphones have bundled in earphones nowadays.

I have like 3 Samsung, 1LG, 1Sony and 1HTC earphones lying around. Well all of them are crap sounding compared to a Sennheiser CXII 400 for example, but they do the job - better than nothing.

>>53625157
I don't know, A.M.P. then it is.

>>53625140
Okay, so 700x and I will EQ the fuck out of it?
As I said I only listen to "Electro House"/electro songs sometimes, that's it.
If I can hear some bass, it's already fine.
>>
>>53625103
>WAAAAH!
>>
>>53625179
No, I mean I work while I sit in the library. I just like to sit here where no one bothers me. My phone didn't come with headphones (IIRC). And I broke all other in-ears.
>>
>>53625179
Yeah, its the easier option.

You're best off by buying a Sennheiser Set 840 S. You can plug in any low impedance headphone or earphone.

It's for TVs right? You didn't say computer or phones. And besides why couldn't you just get a really long extension cord instead? Wireless sucks that's why it's in the OP.

It says your tv can do wifi. Will a wireless Sennheiser Momentum work with it? The Set 840 S has RCA connections so you can use it on your tv but radio RF sucks compared to wifi.

Low impedance means anything under 100ohm.

those joints are really annoying, unless you actually think they're an advantage if you commute with the headphones, look for something else (i.e. Sony MDRV6 then just replace the shitty earpad).

If there are wireless headphones without static, it'd probably be pretty expensive and only under optimal conditions.

I only tried some Sony's wireless headphones, pretty cheap maybe $30 - $50 though I don't remember exactly. It's not like the static's that apparent, but it's basically at the same level as $10 earbuds.

Wireless shit is just not something I would use at home, only on the go / work when I just need something discreet and convenient (certainly not big bulky headphones though)

Wow, who cares. I got 3 pairs of $50 or so wired headphones and they all had statics. I'll wait for someone with experience with more expensive wireless headphones to chime in on that point.

Eitherway, the only reason why I'm considering wireless (since at the very least there's bound to be latency issues) is that I'd rather have expensive average headphones than dead headphones. Cords are hell in my environment.

Had mine 6 years, besides the ear padding which is a little worse for wear they are intact. Really. The metal has little to no scratches and the band is just as tight as its ever been. The coil cable has never had any defects. I keep mine folded in its travel case when I'm not using them so maybe that helped protect them.
