ABP.

In before uHide shills. Remember that one only hides the ads after they've loaded, in order to be "fair" to ad companies. Don't support it.
>>
uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin does not hide ads, it prevents them from connecting at all. It's open source so you can be sure it's legitimate software. Also the uBlock Origin developer is most based developer around.

Adblock Plus if you want your ads to be actually blocked and not just hidden.

are you fucking kidding me? ABP got sold to an ad company, a lot of ad servers are whitelisted
>>
>>53614740
Ublock origin for older hardware as it is low on resources.
Otherwise adblock plus.
>>
>>53615858
On Firefox: Click the AdBlock Plus icon and choose Filter Preferences from the menu. Uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising” and you are done.

On Chrome: Right-click the AdBlock Plus icon in the address bar on the right, then choose Options and uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising.”

Done no more whitelisted adds, full performance 100% what it always was.

until it updates
>>
>>53615215

Tried this and it works. Keeping them both though, fuck it. I mostly got it to prevent the 30 second youtube ads but ublock also stops the sidebar adverts.

They're just so facking annoying is all.

meme.

Not going to lie I never expected to see adblocker fanboys.
>>
>>53614740

the best adblocker is hosts file adblocking

see: gas mask for osx, although you can just edit the hosts file directly
>>
>>53616427
Any advise on good resource for getting the most efficient hosts? I've been using this one for a while
https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts
But it has only 33k entries and I've seen some having over 100k or even 200k entries, like 12-13 megabyte of data host files. But whenever I try something with a lot of entries it fucks up Windows.
>>
>>53616427

I use the one you linked, it's bredy gud for me. i use gas mask so that i can switch quickly between it an the regular hosts file in case i get one of those dumb "turn off your adblock" pop ups. idk about the large number of entries mang, a) i use osx b) i use the StevenBlack one
>>
>>53616611
>>53616665

I feel like having a ton of entries would fuck up any OS though, because you have to parse through all that shit. honestly what does the StevenBlack hosts not do that you want it to? it's a compilation of a bunch of different host files, it's gr8 m8
>>
μMatrix is the only acceptable one.

Arch, actually.

i was on abp for a while then abe but switched to ublock origin and its a million times better. i was also on vlc for years and just switched to mpv and also it's pretty good.
>>

Enjoy your performance. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/blob/master/README.md#performance

I bet when you try to explain why it's the superior OS people can't stand it for the smell of cum coming out of your throat?
>>

>honestly what does the StevenBlack hosts not do that you want it to?
Well, it's not like world-wide stuff. I often visit some European resources and they require region-based or country-based adblocking.
>>
>>53616838
No, because I don't really try to force my technology preferences on other people. Arch is for Arch users, Debian is for Debian users, Windows is for Windows users, etc.

adguard. It is even available on android.

On a side note, why are so many websites afraid of adBlockers?

Multiple news sites in my country will be blocking or limiting access to their sites to anyone using ad block the whole month of august.

Same goes to a tech site i read sometimes, if you use adblock you cant read their articles. It's easy to bypass, but not everyone knows how.
>>
>>53618880

I noticed this too.

>please turn off adblock
>please turn on cookies

fuck that shit.
>>
>>53615203
Pretty much nothing anyone on 4chan has made an infographic for is right.
>>
>>53618880
fuck these sites, i can read the same 'news' in many other places

but you can bypass the anti-adblock with Tampermonkey, works well on chromium
>>
>>53615039
ublock origin for sure
>>
>>53615039
ublock origin because it uses very little resources.

i've found adblock plus to sometimes use over 350mb of ram, i have 8gb so should not be an issue but sometimes it made made firefox hang for a few seconds

Ah, you mean 100% resource raping like it always has been? uBlock doesn't exist for the hell of it. It exists because some autist was tired of APBs performance.
