Yep, smooth as fuck, I have the official nvidia drivers installed though. It's doing some kind of compiz effect, looks fucking nito.

Nah, I think they disabled that shit in 15.04
How do I check though?

How the fuck have they not released Unity 8 yet?
I thought they initially planned for it to be in 15.04

doesn't look like it, it's not in the normal mouse settings at least

actually there's a setting called natural scroll

not sure how it was in 15.10, I've been on Xubuntu for a few years now since everything went to shit, just trying Ubuntu now because it looks like they fixed it up finally

They fixed the HIDPI issue with LightDM.

Slightly better than most DEs that can do HiDPI. Cinnamon reigns supreme in the battery life department while staying HiDPI compatible.

You mean it looks exactly the same than the Ubuntu released 2 years ago, and very similar to the Ubuntu released 4 years ago.

>>53610957
what kernel is it running on? I'm considering switching over from Arch because I want something that just werks and I kinda like the way unity looks and works, but I don't want to deal with (extremely) outdated packages, especially because power management in older kernel versions is kinda shit.

Bruh what theme is that? Is that flatabulous? It looks similar. Got a link?
>>
>>53611107
m8 the reason people use BSD is nothing to do with the kernel and everything to do with the userspace tooling and uniformity. using ubuntu with bsd would kinda defeat the original purpose.

you might wanna add --no-preserve-root or at least the asterisk
>>

It's the Royal Theme
Extract it from the deb here:
https://www.copy.com/s/t%3A980HxGjfI1sWKHKB%3Bp%3A%252Froyal-gtk-theme_1.0-1_all.deb%3Boid%3A1
>>
>>53611260
Thanks man that theme's fantastic, but I'm still deciding to switch from Flatabulous to that. Gonna do test runs and compare how I feel about them.
>>
How did you get your hands on it op?
>>
>>53611411
Not op, but you can get it here:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
>>
>>53611411
He downloaded the .iso from here http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/xenial-desktop-amd64.iso (direct download link). I'm sticking to 15.10 until it's released then gonna do the apt upgrade.

A little late but thanks guys.
Is it stable enough to be used as a main os?
>>
>>53612049
probably. I'm just gonna wait for the actual release though before the apt-dist upgrade or whatever it is.
>>
>>53612049
So long as you do not try to use Unity 8, you're fine. I would suggest to wait until release if you depend on ppas that haven't updated for 16.04 yet (some already have luckily)

You download screenfetch and then you type screenfetch
>>
Also, for all you people asking when Mir comes out, it will come out with 16.10
>>
>>53612849

as default, but there will be an official ubuntu 16.04 with unity 8 and mir.

I'm glad they didn't go with unity 8 as default in this LTS

640*480 only in my iLO console, that's a regression. It's really good with SSH and mc, tho. Transferring my 1,5TB of NTFS data to another HDD over 1Gb/s network running 16.04 right now.
>>

15.10 is fucked in virtualbox. Can't get it to boot. Just sits at a purple screen

Dock on the bottom takes up horizontal screen space. With widescreen monitors, side dock makes more sense.

>>53614978
Actually for home users there's not much of a difference, any video will still be the wrong size no matter how wide your screen is. I like to have the dock at the bottom and that's where I'm used to having it. If you have many icons pinned it also looks better than side dock where the last icons are stacked.

DAILY REMINDER TO USE MATE OR GNOME INSTEAD OF UNITY

>>

>not the absolute worst bullshit of all time

>>53616083
it's easlily one of the best. It's a DE that stays out of your way and is feature complete. For desktop use it's unbeatable
>>
>>53616099
As my opinion, even though you may think it's wrong, I prefer Unity over all the other DE's.
>>
>>53616099
Please, don't be so sarcastic on 4chan. You are scaring the children.
>>
>>53616205
that's only because you prefer your DE to be less cutomizable, slower, more bloated, and less user friendly
>>
