i got my ethernet cable to work with my R30's 56k modem today, turns out the security updates to windows 2000 (which take up 1gb of my 3.8gb hard drive) fucked up the drivers at some point, so i had to revert to older ones, now it plugs in and works just fine.
Only issue is, the only semi modern browser that still works on windows 2000 is netscape, and its shit.

I set the intel_pstate=disable option on boot, then didsudo cpupower frequency-set -d 3.5GHz -u 4.4GHz
I'm pretty certain I saved the bios settings; I even restarted just to make sure they matched my notes. Also my CPU is now detecting at its "actual" speed, rather than the speed it can achieve with their on-demand overclocking (which is still slower than I was trying for)
It's kind of a silly thing to be doing though, so I'll probably just stop

Make sure you have turbo enabled. Otherwise it won't go above stock. Also install i7z and watch it to see if it goes of stock while you do something intensive like compiling something.

? then what? you can also modify the amount of colors it generates, but it takes longer, so i left a sane default of 16 colors but my software isn't just for console colors, it's for GTK and tint2 too, also any software or configfile you have will have it's colors modified, and if you don't like that "sameness" of colors, you can always specify your own in your .Xresources, so that isn't a issue.
