Or regulated the same way firearms are.

>No, you CAN have encryption, just nothing that the Government can't control.
>Civilians cannot have access to AES encryption technologies.
>Citizens found to have any device with information encyrpted with prohibited encrption technologies will have those devices confiscated and MUST comply with furnishing the necessary information to access the information on that device or else be charged with interfering with a criminal investigation.

Just remember, all first world country governments don't want you to be able to encrypt.

What if ISIS have access to encryption anyway, and prefer American citizens not having crypto?

We can't have privacy because if we do the terrorists will have it also.

Is that the argument against encryption?

They are secretely conspiring against your porn collection, amirite?

Just as Al Qaeda was, rite? All just a media show, the whole Iraq war, capturing Osama, invading countries. It was all done for oil. Wait, most of US oil is not from the Middle east. Then what?

Maybe the whole fbi/apple encryption scandal was a massive ruse. Maybe apple did actually give the fbi the encryption keys but then publicly denounced it as if they're the good guys so people can buy more apple devices but the fbi in reality are able to access everyone's iphones now.

It's definitely possible you know. Companies would do any shady shit just for the dosh.
>>
>>53598316
Well, for one thing, if the government sees you're uncovering something they don't want out, they'll know. Secondly, if they have access, then they can plant pretty much anything they want on your computer
>>
>>53598335
Nigga there's so much evidence (which I won't go into since this isn't /pol/) that the usa had other motives to invade Iraq orther than saddam and his ""WMD's"". It's funny how not 1 (one) chemical weapon was found during the whole war.

So, how many are working for the govt? And how much many individuals do they have to monitor? 320 milion peeps?

Basically the workload would be so huge, every government clerk would be drowned in monitoring work. Heck, they couldn't do it. Even if they automated it, still someone would have to check a colossal amount of data, even using searches and filters, that would be a massive undertaking. All this for what? Government being paranoid you know something. Hm, which one is more likely: this story or you hiding something?

Do you think the government is one guy with one mind or one group with the same similar interests? There must be milions of people working for them, each with their own interest, all trying to converge somehow into the whole legislative mess of rules and laws.

Noo, they are all one mind, one soul, secretely working against you! You must arm yourself, prepare yourself, lock all the doors, encrypt all your anime, they are actively monitoring you right now. They literally can't sleep if they can't find out the content of your daily shitposting.

And guess what, Obama personally told them to watch you. Obama, Clinton, Bush, all part of the Bilderberg conspiracy. Trump's in it too. The FBI, al Qaeda and ISIS, obviously. All eager to grab the contents of your personal anime files.
>>
>>53598771
How's that USIDF paycheck? Where can I apply to shitpost for taxpayer money?

This is what worries me too. Otherwise we have to accept that Apple is a great company who protects our privacy.

Both are scary scenarios.

>>53598771
It's like you haven't heard of the things called "computers" that run "software". Nobody is assuming that the government has actual people doing all the spying. Though the results should be still accessible by some bored NSA drone.

Calling it like firearms bring up the second amendment.

The founding father using mathematical encryption that was basically unbreakable in their time. And they expected citizens to be able to do the same.

>what is software monitoring

So even ISIS cares more about their members than FBI about the citizens of US and A?

No surprises here.

The founding fathers had cyphers. Basically the same thing.

It seems hard to believe that the FBI can't even deal with an iphone.

Is the FBI not very technologically advanced? Weren't tinfoil hat people on /g/ always worried the FBI were going to break their truecrypt volumes encryption and shit?
>>
>>53598441
sarin gas
>>
>>53599438
They "break" things like Truecrypt encryption with backdoors they forced into the technologies. They've been on the inside track in the tech industry for decades, they've managed to force entry into most technologies. Apple only recently told them to fuck off.
>>
>>53598372
it wasn't apple who decided to go public, it was the FBI because they thought people were stupid enough to side with them.
>>
>>53599487
Well, "muh terrorism" did wonders before. Although paranoia against a fake threat isn't enough against the most popular tech company.

Yes, ether we're all secure or we're all vulnerable (backdoor encryption). Backdoors are meant to be open whether you want them to or not.
