You underestimate how nice it is to remotely change lighting colours

>>
>>53596047
usually they let you select or strobe 7 colors or over a spectrum of hues
>>
why do no leds have brown light option
>>
>>53595954

You want a good 100W or a T12.

Regular LEDs are definitely worth buying, but if you're using a base meant for incandescents, make sure you have something to diffuse the light properly. Shit gets real bright real quick
>>
bee unsing one of those that come with a remote for the last 2 years and it still works great, i use it only at night tho, for when im on the computer late night or when im with friends playing vidya.

The one i have is no good for reading, too dim, its a 5w
>>
>>53596203
its only $5 shipped grandpa.... and they last a really long time.

i use cree led bulbs. they last long and pay for themselves over time due to low energy usage.
>>
>>53596409
>i use it only at night
wow, really?
>>
>>53595954
Only if they don't flicker. But those ones aren't the cheapest.
>>
>>53596430
Mine lasted 6 months. It still works, but puts off ~1lm

More like, if you think you need colored lighting to "set the mood", you'll never get laid.
>>
>>53596788
You can do that with any cheap chinese RGB led strip?

>>53595954
I have been using CREE LED bulbs in my bedroom for a few years now, they work just fine with no replacements needed and just as much light as the old ones they replaced. as for replacing high wattage incandescent bulbs, I kept running into issues with the LEDs burning out.

Heres an LED bulb
each filament has about 30 LEDs

I bought one a week ago to put in my room.

First opinion: coloring is useless. It doesn't light even a quarter as well as white-ish light.
If I knew how it was, I definitely would have bought a white-ish only bulb.
Second opinion: it's actually quite good. The lighting quality is quite good, and in my case (Awox) the phone connectivity works rather well.

You don't needcolored LED bulbs, but LED bulbs in general are worth it.

Jesus Christ no.

>>53596164
This, for practical use.

Colour ones are too dim to be useful.

they're not worth buying

The power converters still suck. The ones in my kitchen wreck my FM radio reception.

this, Halogens have perfect CRI and better light scatter (not beam forming) they also do not blind you

getting quality Halogens is hard nowdays with the proliferation of shitty chinese fluorescents and LEDs

White/warm white: yes. They have some at walmart rated as 60w equivalent that are closer to 100w in lumen output.

No. The diodes need to be individually addressable for the effect in that image. Most of the cheap shit controls the whole strip at a time.
