What were computers at your school like? Did you do anything to prove how much of a 1337 hax0r you were? Did you work for the school's tech department?
>>
>>53591556
P3s... And I only copied the XP keys....
>:^)
>>
In secondary school, I found out the admin password of my teacher's account (every staff member had an admin account for god knows what reason)

I was the cool kid who put dick pics in people's folders
>>
>>53591643
nice
>>
>>53591556
I stole the CPU's out of a few pc's in my schools computer lab while I was alone. Never got caught.
>>
2nd grade we had Macintosh Performas, KidPix was the shit.

By about 4th we had newer Optiplex 170's, only really used for state testing, windows 98 was installed on all of them because thats the only thing the programs were compatible with. I remember using one for a powerpoint project involving eLocker and shit.

By 6th grade we still had optiplexs with windows 98, but the art class had 2 macs, a mac pro tower and a G5

In middle school most computer labs were still using optiplexes, but with windows XP, none were secure at all, the admin password was [insert school name here] and i remember setting up an ubuntu partition to use instead of XP because XP would fucking lag, the art classes in the middle school had a whole lab of the newer aluminium imacs along with some older g4's and g5's.

In highschool we had nothing but iMacs, all brand new ones, as one building was brand new. The older building on campus also used iMacs but dominantly used carts of Macbook Airs. My Architectural Drafting class however was the only one where we got to use a bunch of mac pro trashcans, which were fucking dank.

I never really 1337'd it up at all, i use to try and fuck with the ubuntu thing in middle school and in highschool i use to bring my own laptop running debian which freaked out the other kids once, but that was about it.

I also almost got arrested for updating my chroot on my chromebook, because i guess lines of text in a terminal are "hacking the school" now.
>>
>>53591556

When I was in grade/elementary school, all the PCs were PII machines. I picked one up (along with parts from others) a couple of years back up when they cleaned out the school's storage rooms. Ended up making a decent retro machine just from those parts.

In high school every machine was a Dell with a P4. Somebody in the tech department put a copy of Halo out on the network storage and we would play that while in the computer lab, until somebody eventually got caught.

I worked for the tech department my senior year. I mostly just did minor networking stuff and watched the security cameras, our school was pretty small (my graduating class was 55 students).
>>
I renamed win.com so that only I could start the computer.
>>
>>53591556
>Did you work for the school's tech department?
What country is this a thing?
Never had that chance in the UK.
>>
>>53591777
first off, trips

secondly, sometimes i feel bad about knowing so much computer stuff, i mean, when i was in kindergarten there was one computer in the school, and it still took 5.25" floppies, nobody gave a shit about computers, we just dicked around in class and went outside to climb on hot metal and splintery wood
in second grade that was the first time id ever used a computer, and it just kept going from there, i was the fastest typer in my class by 5th grade and never had to do keyboard testing, i knew all the ways around windows 98, 2000 and XP, and every computer i used the teachers would have to watch me because i would fuck with things and slack off

by highschool a computer had become such an integral part of my life that i no longer did fucking anything at all, i use to do dirt bmX racing, i could play the violin, i was a fantastic artist, and now im sitting inside with a laptop shitposting and checking my facebook as i have since 2011.

Fucking kill me /g/, sometimes i really wish the home computer never took off, and kids would be outside again.
>>
>What were computers at your school like?
Shit. More specific: constipation. That's how fucking slow they were.

Give it back deshawn
>>
I remember when Window was an a for DOS, in primary school our first IBM compatibles were 386 or 486 I think they were NEC.
>>
>>53592005
I'm pretty sure the RAM that deshawn took is fucked after the 30 minute walk home and KFC.
>>
The most 1337 thing I did at high school was use people as a proxy, told a couple guys an exploit to gain ez access to admin accounts etc - worked too. They cocked it up though, got caught watching porn.
I ran some python scripts to gain access to hidden areas, not like I could do anything.
Either way to this day I still have a head teachers login which still works.
The password was "password"

>Begin disassembling, and in thirty minutes, have it all laid out.
>Replace corroded ram with a fresh DDR2 Stick.
>In about thirty more minutes the PC was fully reassembled and it was wired up right, because someone misplaced the pw_sw cord on the hddled cord.
>PC Starts up flawlessly, posts with AmericanMegatrends screen.

None, there are a lot of whores at the school, though. I've been asked to "block Snapchat" as the students trade nudes with one another like a currency.

They simply use cell service.

I have been given "old" laptops by rich snobby females:

Ativ Book9
Macbook Air (2012)
Macbook Pro 13 (2011)
Macbook Pro 15 (2012, fully loaded)

The last one a girl at thrown in the trash at the end of the year. She didn't want to bring it back to her house, so she just threw it in the trash outside.

I remember having a 128 mb usb-stick from my parrents, and then I had my "first computer class" in basic school

I was used to use windows xp and usb-sticks, and there we had to work with windows 2000 and the revolutionairy floppy's.

It was mandatory, and we all had to do it.
In my age I have already taken apart computers, fixed some, and installed windows xp many times already.

It was frustrating to see I was peforming the worst, and the biggest technology retards were the best in doing these classes.

Also, in middle school there were alot of times the teacher wanted to sendt me off to the principle because I used firefox and saw me open cmd on accident (thought I would fuck up the school systems or something).

They told all of us that you couldn't use any usb sticks in the computer, but I found a way to use usb sticks on the computer anyway, played some gta sa and swat 4 in electrical engineering school

How many years experience?
>>
>>53591556
All optiplexes which they upgraded every 2 years. The only 1337 thing I did was use one of the local admin accounts a few times. They had like three on each computer, all without passwords for some reason. I probably should've told the teacher about them but she was cool so I didn't get in trouble when someone eventually snitched on me for "hacking the school".
>>
>>53594779

I'm 26, been here a year and a half. Previous job I was at 4.5 years. I had a job at a web firm in high school.

I don't have a degree.
>>
>>53594814
Considering no degree, that isn't half bad actually. With your years experience, however, with a degree you'd be easily in the 120k range.
>>
>>53594756
Trust me, it's stupid, bit I did learn my good stuff.

Speaking of which, let's fast forward.

>Get back on christmas break.

>Oh-ho-hooo.png.
>Used old linux Mint distro to test it.
>Set up a new hard drive and move it to a flash drive.
>reinstall it with Kali.
>Use hash checker and some more tools to tell open ports and passwords after using a bruteforce tool in Kali.
>Get access to the server.
>Power the server off and make a new account with a random password.
>Skip ahead a week, school's pissed about no internet. Bring my bad boy in, and crack it successfully.
>Everyone's asking how I did it.
>Took me an hour, and we had full server access again.
>Windows server 2012 was restored to it's previous state.
>everyone's impressed.
>Someone asked me if I'm a hacker.
>Said no.
>But in realiy I just fucked with everything.

Cont.
The IT department in middle school always sucked, never fixed any problems that arised.

The airheads in the "library" had a tv screen that could look at any schreen of the students to see if we were misbehaving

(Damn, fucking r.a.t.s and spying on students I realise now)

Then I was moved to a lower niveau of school because I constandly would get F's in french class and a D's in german class, didn't matter that I wouldn't get good grades in all 9 other classes and that I could drop those 2 classes in the end of the year ( ;_; fuck you all)

To engineering school, MBO
After that I went to Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam
(Graphics, design college)

Most of the computers there were Imacs, always on the verge of overheating, most of the Imacs actually contained windows 7, no idea why, I think licencing issues.

They always had a super short cable between the mouse and keyboard, they locked it with a cheap lock, I used to picklock it and put it back after I was done using the Imac.

I wanted to do animation, but they never let me do that, they said that I would get to do that in the 3rd year, maybe.

So I left it, thought I was done because I was 18, then the government changed the law that you have to be 21 before they leave you alone, to ehm.. Motivate you.

So I went to an IT school, where I am now.
Dear god there are a lot of neckbeards, odd folks. And they all think they are l33t h4x0r5, thinking a hdd is a cpu, using shitloads of cooling pasta

I swear I am not enjoying these last years, the first year was a pain in the ass as it was so basic and common sense

All of these neckbeard fedora cringy beta people that only wash once a week.

And they force me to learn code, while I am absolutely not interested in coding, but they forced me to do lua anyway

So I basically came less and less, I wanted to drop out, then they offered me to do a lower niveau mbo in 1 year, I accepted to get rid of the need to go to school as fast as possible.

Finally I could do things with hardware and servers, something I'm interested in, but quickly they made me do networking.

A few months In and I was just done, said I wanted to drop out but it's not possible because muh government said so.

I'm stuck, forced to do these things or face a fine.

Can't focus on servers or webshops I'm trying to set up.

I.. Just... Sigh.. My post quickly derailed..
I'm done posting.

i remember one time when me and a friend managed to get access to a command line thing on one of the admins computers, so we sent a command to all the computers making them all flood the network with data. after that the internet was down for a week and most of our work we didnt have to do.
>>
>>53594288

me and a bawls chuggin friend put a line in the registry that would turn the heat sink fans off at startup starting at a later date. in the computer labs. 5 labs in our grade level, each with a couple dozen computers, over the course of the year. this was grade 11 i believe.

there were mobile carts full of like 30 apple laptops that classrooms would sign out, and i switched my laptop with another girls when we left the room for study hall, and then when we got back, put hers (or mine that i had switched into her backpack. this was the last class of the day. i intended to get it when we were on the bus but didn't have a chance. don't know what happened.

and in 12th i put open staples inside the keyhole of every door before class, and when the teachers stuck the key in, it bent the staple to the pins, and every had to sit in the cafeteria for most of the day while doors were taken off the hinges. i got expelled and had to pay for all the knobs.

i now work tech support.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\ACPI\DSDT

run extractdsdt.exe in terminal.

look in the file it makes for 0x06, i think, and there's a table of hex values, set all to 0.

use that file to update the aml - use the task scheduler to set that to happen in the future to prevent anyone knowing it was you that fried the computer.

In my middle school, each student was given a laptop to use throughout 6-8th grade. You could take it home, use it in class, etc. This amounted to everyone playing games all the fucking time and not doing work.

I remember teaching people how to save text files as batch files, which would give you access to the command line which was blocked. Then you could use something like netuser or whatever it was called to shut down anyone logged into the school network. What a beautiful time

Also I remember our IT "department" was a single middle aged woman who seemed to know nothing useful about computers.

Virus on your laptop from games? Reinstall windows
Slow internet? Reinstall Windows
Can't log in? Reinstall Windows.
