Either way, as far as the ones I have seen, the vape things or mouth fedoras use 18650 cells, which are highly combustible if they are not properly taken care of. You have to construct a circuit that will allow it to charge at a certain voltage after it has reached it maximum amperage otherwise it will also blow up.

Im running 2x2x18650 Sony batteries in my vape (yes, the cheap Chinese fake ones) and as long as you handle them with care literally nothing will happen.

Really won't matter where the battery is, those cases are designed to seal your phone and by doing so also seal in the heat. The new Microsoft phones get hot very quickly doing the basics, imagine adding a whole layer of plastics to that and you are increasing the heat to the battery by not letting it cool. it will blow.
