I am currently in the market for a new 13 or 15 inch laptop. What is currently or in the near future the best 13 or 15 inch laptop on the market?
I want a laptop with good battery life, great build quality, and performance.
I have looked at the Dell XPS, ASUS, and Razor Blade Stealth. I know Apple has new laptops coming on on Monday as well.
Any suggestions?
Have you looked into the Microsoft® Surface™ family?
Like really, the Pro 4 and the Book are excellent machines if you want premium quality.

>I know Apple has new laptops coming on on Monday
It's just phones and tablets, actually

I have looked at the Surface Book. I don't like the screen ratio and the hinge. The Surface Pro 4 just seems over priced for the higher end models to me.

I'm using the Surface Book right now and I think it's great. The battery life, keyboard, and screen are all really good.
The aspect ratio was a selling point for me, is there a reason you don't want 3:2?
Asus f555la has good specs/price, decent build quality, battery lasts ~5-6 hours.
>>53579020
we really don't know what it'll be. usually the announcements around this time of year are OS and peripheral-related, but apple has been going off lately, so who knows
>>53579195
The 3:2 ratio has huge black bars when watching video or gaming.
What is the battery life like for you on the Surface Book. I saw in a few reviews that the battery life wasn't good and it pulled me away from the device.

Also the Surface Book at $2000 seems really expensive for only 8gb of ram that isn't expandable on a 13 inch device.

The laptop had major problems with sleep when it was released, it just got fixed last month. I get 9-11 hours of just web browsing, light programming and note taking. I don't really game so I don't really know anything about that on the surface book.

Thinkpad x220 or t420. Get a new battery and enjoy your 9+hours of shitposting.

No question, it is ridiculously expensive, but there's a 10% student discount you can use.
You get what you paid for though, it feels like a premium device. The worst part of it is the software.
i bought a macbook pro 13" for college summer 2015 and its pretty damn comfy tbqhwyf. 8+ hour battery life, great screen, light/compact enough to carry around campus.
the performance/dollar might not be the greatest but i don't do much heavy stuff on it. (owned a thinkpad and some shitty hp laptop before this one)

75 cents has been deposited into your bank account
ThinkPad X230 Tablet is BAE
>>53579428
>9-11 hours
How long into that does it just fall
>>53578842
For 13 it's rMBP and it's not even close. At worst it matches the competition, at other bits it's vastly superior (performance, trackpad)
Though it's 16:10 screen and not made for gaming ... and ultrabooks generally suck at it.
>>53579491
>BAE
your kind isn't welcome here
>>53578842
>amazing side and upper bezels
>disgusting, fat lower bezel
>disgusting base
How the fuck did it happen?

I am coming off a E420 right now. Those laptops are getting a little long in the tooth and are too big.
>>53579458
Can i use he student discount in canada?
Also how good is the surface pro 4 at multitasking? Will it beat my i7 860, surface pro i7 is only dual core.
Want to use it for running multiple desktops with 10+ browsers and many scripta and calculations going on in the background.
So far the only competitor for this is a laptop wih i7 6700k clevo
Just bought a Macbook Pro 13 2015 base model almost new for $900, did I do good /g/?
>>53578842
>13 inch

Chromebook with Linux. Running a Chromebook 2 from Toshiba right now and for the price it's amazing.
Looking at your choices though shows budget is of no issue. So it's all up to you.
XPS 13 9350 owner here, bought it just a few weeks ago
shit's good I can't complain about any aspect of it
don't play games on it though
>>53578842
My peenus weanus
>>53581888
adding a bit to this, performance is really good with the i7 model, arguably similar on the i5
ran benchmarks on the storage (I went for 256GB) and read was up to 1500MB/s sequential, write was only around 400MB/s though
anything else you want to know?
>>53579479
Fuck that's a lot for one shilling
>>53579426
Try student discount and other coupons
>>53578842
any /o/tists here? What car is being displayed on the desktop of the right laptop?
>>53579970
Great specs but shitty hinges. Seriously, those things break like crazy.
If taken extra well care of could be a good purchase.
>>53582169
Aston Martin Vanquish. Not sure about what year tho.
>>53578842
>13 or 15 inch laptop.
14" nigger, all the way
T460 for a $1000 machine
Zenbook or XPS 15 for $1.5k machine
wait for macbooks. buy one if
>13" has full voltage processor and thunderbolt 3
or
>15" has the same and is also less than 4.5 lbs
>>53579530
Underrated as fuck
XPS 13/15 is what I would get. They have the best build quality, best pricing, and the infinity display is just fucking gorgeous.
>>53582941
>>53581888
How long should I expect the Newer XPS 13 to last?
Should I expect Linux support of it to improve in the future?
Juggling between this and a Dell Insipiron of equivalent specs. Inspiron looks cheap and flimsy, but has easily replaceable parts.
On the other hand, the XPS looks tougher but I'm worried if the battery goes to shit, I'm fucked.
>>53582454
should've got a macbook (:
