What software did you feel good about purchasing?
Do you still use that software?

>$11.23 USD for Rainlendar Pro

Pirating $11 software that is developed and maintained by 1 guy just felt scummy. Calendar/planner literally saved my education.

The only one who should feel scummy is the programmer.

Except charging money for software is completely legitimate for a Free Software project as long as the source code is freely available. Probably not the case of OP's software but still I wanted to make that clear.

RMS himself sold copies of Emacs and other GNU software in the early days. That prevented him from starving.

Because I jewed my way into a lot of sales and 80% of them were definitely worth the buy.
Chivalry, MW and DW almost all TW games (except Attila), CSGO, Payday 2, Skyrim, L4D2, Portal 2, Withcer 1&2.

Also not really purchased, but I donated to several small projects. Basically if something makes my life a little less complicated, I like to tip the devs.

Stalker SoC and CoP because the devs live in ghetto conditions.

Oh fuck. Never bought any software ever, though never pirated anything from small dev teams either ... mostly because their software sucks cock.

Buyer's remorse:
>EWQL Hollywood Platinum
I fell for the hype and demos. Bergersen and the rest of them spend upwards of 4 fucking weeks squeezing a measly 2 minutes of amazing sound out of those libraries, and I don't ever have that kind of time budget. The patches are barely even playable and the legatos are out of time / sometimes even out of tune, so how the fuck am I supposed write with it?
Fucking ripoff, and even Symphobia trumps its full patches for layering work.

The last software I purchased was Windows 7 and Office 2010. At the time, I felt good about my purchase, but was unaware of how it could be ruined. Given Microsoft and Apple's version of free software, I would rather pay a one time monetary fee than deal with this shit. I no longer use their OS as my primary and will stick with Linux + VM until they change.

I can honestly say I've never paid for software. Actually no, that's a lie. I've never paid for WINDOWS software. I bought a few Android apps, but only because someone gave me Google Play gift cards, so I'm not even sure if that counts. There was really nothing else to use them on.

Unless we're counting games of course. But I don't think that's what OP was getting at.

That was back when shareware was big and the internet was for universities and rich kids.

Nowadays, if the source code is freely available on the net, but the binary costs money, there's nothing stopping you from building the program yourself.
Dev will make no money.

I payed for rainlendar too OP, because the paid version syncs with google calendar on my phone.

I pay monthly for Lightroom because professional photography. It's hyper easy to pirate it but the updates are helpful for lens profiles, and on some level i'm paranoid that since I make a lot of money through it, legally I should probably own it.

WTF this reminds me of that Greentext where the anon's parents got him a WinRAR key.

Why don't you use 7zip? It is faster, free as in freedom and even OS agnostic

I've bought RedHat (lol 4.0) disks at Computer shows in the mid 90's, since I didn't drive and no credit. I did buy Xi graphics xserver because XFree86 didn't have accelerated graphics for my s3 card at the time.

I've been using pc's since 1995 and I don't think I've ever bought any software. The most I've ever done is send a postcard to an author thanking him for a hex editor
