I had a pair of Tritton 720s a while back. They were $150. For the extra $60 believe you me, the sound is outstanding. the 7.1 surround was outstanding.
Unfortunately the whole thing is made of plastic so it eventually snapped. Still, if you take care of them a decently headset is worth the price. Just wait another paycheck and invest on the next set up.

i just bought a pair of g930s for $70
I would have gone with the ps golds but I see that the headband usually starts breaking within a year or 2.
The g930s also have reports of pieces breaking but those pieces that break can be replaced with 3d printed replacement parts unlike the golds.
I bought PX4 for $68. Pretty happy with it. I've had better headsets but it's decent enough for gaming and movie watching. REALLY good at blocking out other sounds, though.
The only gaymen headset that was ever acceptable in sound is the PC363d
