I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

moved from windows 7 to 8.1 like 4 months ago, after new installation was taking forever to install updates and crapped itself in some weird way.

so far it's nice, not really a fan of settings split in 2 places (one of which is this fullscreen shit) but control panel is still there, there are nice changes too (speed graph when copying files for example).
i just wish there was classic theme. oh well, hw acceleration is nice so no more screen tearing and metro definitely looks better than aero.
don't really give a fuck about start menu/screen as i just press winkey and type first few letters like always.

i'd upgrade to 10 if it wasn't such botnet, or if there was an easy way to completely debotnetify it.

I tried my hardest not to laugh around the executives there, but I laughed my ass off as soon as I left the building. It was great XD Just wanted to throw that out there. topkektrivia: After the recent shooting (the one the iPhone/FBI fuzz is about), it took Microsoft 20 minutes to give out all the data they had about the targetperson.

Of course this all happened with a judges and lawyers adjudication and was "carefully" been done.

20 minutes. You (western citizen) gave up your old jurisdication that needed a month long process in favor of a "carefully" made decision by one secretary at Microsoft.
