Why does the x86 architecture suck so much, /g/?

Because it's botnet.

What makes it suck so much?
Atoms are better than arm and no one else is bothering with the other inferior architectures for desktop or servers.

It doesn't suck, the problem is monopoly by Intel.

I'm working on it, jim

x86 started beating everything as of about the PPRO 200/1M. In fact, this was the fastest CPU on earth at one point.

HP's MoonShoot and other vendors are starting to use ARM as well, for massively parallel low performance tasks.
>>
>>53565223
Not because it performs better, but because it's cheaper.

Quad core allwinner h3 sells for $6 for example and has 4k 30fps video decoding built in.

That's because they're too poor to afford xeons. Around 90% of servers and supercomputers use x86_64

Intel's hooked on piling shit onto an architecture from the 70s instead of moving on

Have opterons been on the rise lately?
>>
>>53565829
Not really. They initially are cheaper than intel xeons but cost more in the long run due to the higher power usage.
>>
>>53566013
I want an opteron for video games because it's such a stupid idea.
