Are you actually browsing 4chan on a kindle e-ink screen? If yes I have a couple questions for you OP.

Seems like he's also using a fucking mouse with it
Enjoy your input lag, OP

1. How does the mouse react to being used on a screen that doesn't update as frequently as a regualr monitor? Is there significant lag? Did you have to slow down the mouse speed in order to stay sane?

2. Like the first, how does scrolling react to the e-ink screen? Is it also slow or choppy in any way? Is it unbarable or could it be overcome by using the Page Down button, if you had a full keyboard connected?

3. I care not about how exactly you are browsing 4chan on a kindle, but what type of kindle are you using? Is that cable to a computer, and you are simply using the kindle as a screen? If yes, how? If you have installed another operating system on the kindle, I don't really care.

4. Lastly, how does the e-ink compare overall to a regular LCD screen in regards to using it as a monitor? I for one like the e-ink look, which is why I am interested in it as a monitor (not a desktop computer monitor, but for a small scale project that would require some kind of screen.)

5. How do images and gifs respond? I'm assuming they are choppy, but that won't be a deterring factor.

Even if you respond to one of these it would be extremely helpful.

Does the screen look that shitty in real life or is that just the camera? Is there no way to darken the grey/black parts for higher contrast?

I cranked the screen up to 30hz. It's quite usable.
>2. Like the first, how does scrolling react to the e-ink screen? Is it also slow or choppy in any way? Is it unbarable or could it be overcome by using the Page Down button, if you had a full keyboard connected?
When you scroll more than one mousewheel "click" the screen becomes a blur and eventually settles down and shows the page.

The kindle is my main screen since about 2014. It's a fith generation no touch.
The image is received via Wifi, it's a bit of a messy code base, but it works.

For me it works fine. I can play solitaire and games alike and pretty much use it for everything.

>5. How do images and gifs respond? I'm assuming they are choppy, but that won't be a deterring factor.
Images work fine. It's not really suitable for videos I must admit.

The frontlight was on in that picture, if you turn it off you get better contrasts
But this reader uses an older generation of eink, newer ones are better

Interesting, thank you for your responses.

Is there any way to rotate the screen?

Also, what were your resources when doing this project? I've read things about using it as a screen over wifi, but to be honest I was hoping for more of a replacement screen + driver board approach. That may be asking too much though I guess.

Now that I think about it though, If I could just rotate the screen, doing all that work would be quite useless. I could just buy an old Kindle and do it over wifi...

Thank you for your responses and good night.

The screen turning thing is easily Googleable, please don't bother yourself with responding, I apologize for asking in the first place.
