Definitely need a keyboard/mouse/touchpad to work well, but a touchscreen is a really nice feature to use with unity
>>
Other DEs that'll be nice on a touch screen?

All x86 tablets support Linux, don't they?
It's just a bit iffy because of the 32 bit bootloader, but you can boot 64 bit regardless
>>
>>53566011
I guess that's true, but I've never really had one actually work, it's mostly been pains in the ass to get it to write to the storage, or wifi won't work, sound doesn't work, external buttons don't work, you know. the usual,

I guess what i should ask is which tablet is that?
>>
>>53563034
shame about unity though
>>
>>53566022
Acer t100ta.
Wifi doesn't work.

Still, unity is pretty comfy on a touch screen, I'm just playing around with it (live usb) until hopefully 16.04 gets wifi working.

What?

>>
>>53566090
The other DEs don't have very good tablet support do they?
I think the KDE guys are giving it a shot but that wouldn't run on a tablet would it?

Do you have root? I'd probably install something else on it
fuck canonical
>>
>>53566074
Shit yeah, I meant asus.

>>53566082
Literally every OS has to telemetry of some form or another. Who cares?
>>
>>53566126
Unity looks like the only de that's comfy on a touch screen
>>
>>53566126
I'm not OP but I think KDE would work fine, nothing else I can really think that would feel or work nice on touch. maybe MATE
>>

Also enlightenment should be pretty comfy so I'm downloading void enlightenment

>>53566169
It's not OS enough
>>
>>53566177
I feel like those menus could work.

>>
>>53566199
Make sure to use the modded 32bit Efi thingy
>>
>>53566199
Windows made the push to touch screens with 8.1 and failed.
Linux master race
>>
>>53563385
Do they only sell these tablets on Australia?
>>
>>53566126
I think e17 is pretty good for touch screens
>>
>>53566989
Or enlightment or how the fuck they call it, i remembered the debian package name
>>
is there an acceptable x86 tablet with kb or small laptop at a medium price point? No i3, give me cheap Celeron or an i5.

Surface Pro 2 a viable option? MacBook/SP3 too expensive, fuck chromebooks, and fuck Lenovo thinkpads
>>
>>53567005
E17 is easier
