When did you grow out of the ARM meme?

How much better is your life today?

Nice meme. Still doesn't change the fact that ARM won.

The iPad pro is just a tool, now that it exists people will start developing real software for it, another stop in the direction of ARMdomination.

Neither was not aborting you but people aren't nice

ARM is only going to become more dominant from here. It's a great architecture, what's wrong with it?
>>
>>53568663
There are better architectures out there. ARM is decent, but MIPS and POWER are where it's at.
>>
>>53568698
But if they're that good why are they only used in niche server applications and obsolete routers & set top boxes?
>>
>>53568814
Because they don't run Windows

RISC-V is the future.

Google wants to control the ISA.

RISC-V will allow Google to control the ISA the way supporting ARM won't.
>>
>>53568822
>>53568814
Also of course MIPS is only used in routers and set top boxes, that's what the architecture's been focused on recently. There are companies doing awesome shit with MIPS like Loongson though
>tfw can't track down a Lemote Yeeloong
>>
>>53568854
What makes mips better?

I remember my psp is using a 333mhz mips processor. Shit was cash.

Why do apple fags always rely on synthetic benchmarks?
Reminds me of when the nexus 5 btfo the iPhone 6 in real world performance.
>>
>>53568914
MIPS are slow but it's simpler to build (transistor-wise) so you can cram more core when needed (Servers and routers have better parallelism).
Good for servers and stuff but not really good for entertainment device.
>>
>>53563118
Silvermont is 22nm compared to Krait 28nm, no wonder Atom win.

>>53569030
I wonder how the benchmark for current/next-gen is going to look like since Intel/Samsung/TSMC are going to be stuck at 14/16nm for the next little while.

WTF. Where is the swastika on the arm brand? You had one job, OP.
>>
>>53569146
Loongson 3Ax/3Bx s will be clocked lower than current-gen high-end ARM chips, not to mention they will be manufactured on 28nm process.

ARM is nazi technology confirmed.
>>
>>53569167
This is essentially an IPC comparison then, right?
>>
>>53569189
Yes, that's exactly the case.
>>
>>53568828
>>53569138
For those of us who weren't around the first go around, this is like PA-RISC->Itanium vs DEC all over again and it'll go one of two ways. Google has to completely wrest the reigns away and dictate from the ivory tower how things will go, then subsidize tooling costs to get the things made. If that happens it'll crush all comers. INCLUDING consumer computing on intel.
More likely is Oracle will try to shit all over everything, they'll overpromise and underdeliver and orgs will STILL buy the shit out of it. ARM will prevail but there will be consolidation due to decreased sales. Intel won't notice anything happened.

>>
>>53570704
Pro tip: The attractiveness of ARM in server/embedded market isn't the raw performance or even integer performance/price.

It's that OEMs can design their own custom SoCs and jam whatever DSP, network processor, interconnect they like. They are even jamming FPGAs into ARM SoCs.

Intel either won't allow this or will be too slow to react to market demands.
