Yo, i've got a problem, I need to implement an image deployment solution for a customer that is only using 1 USB stick.
the PC needs to be able and boot from the USB stick and deploy an image contained on the same USB stick, all whilst being as normie friendly as possible.
Anyone with any recommendations for the simplest solution to this?
live-usb
Use a phone to live boot

which os? will it need to install from the usb? or does it need to be installed on the usb then run from it? linux and windows can do both of these. what exactly do you need it to do?

It's windows.
I need to place multiple images on one USB and choose which image to deploy when i boot from the USB.

Microsoft has a tool for this.

to clarify, i need to place many .iso or .wim style files on a single USB and then plug the USB into a PC and choose which of these files i would like to deploy.
after all is done i should have a PC with a fully deployed image on its harddrive based on the choice i did in the "bootmenu"

YUMI

Option 1 - use an old PC as a server. install windows deployment server and configure multiple images. Configure for PXE boot across lan.
option 2 - use old pc as server install microsoft deployment toolkit. add all the install images from each windows version put a single boot file on a thumbdrive and boot from the thumbdrive. The rest will happen over the network.
Option 3 - get multiple thumbdrives, one for each version

What im really looking for is an option 4 that only includes a thumb drive.
The client wants to avoid using a server, and basically want to have 1 thumb drive that can handle all images for the 3 different type of clients.
Is no such option available?

from what little i've read it seems like YUMI is a "OS on a thumbdrive" type thing.
It cant be a solution that runs the operating system on a thumb drive, it needs to actually fully deploy the operating system to the PC's HDD.

you can install it from the USB. i did it with 7.

Ok cool, this sounds like what i've been looking for.
Thanks for the responses.

Client to cool for 3 thumbdrives eh? You know the first thing he's gonna do is put it through the washing machine then lose it.

He can ruin the whole thing if he wants, just gives me more consultancy hours.
