Please convince me not to sell my kidney and buy this shit.

>protip: I hope you can
>>
How much? Cheaper than a ViDock and card? Cheaper than a shitty old case and an adapter?
>>
>>53549969
You only get a couple weeks pay for a kidney. It's not worth the time off work.
>>
Managing two machines isn't that hard.
Why do people insist on using one for everything?
>>
>>53549969
I was selling my kidney last month then I found an android app job, earned like $3500 from it.
>>
>>53550132
Buying the cheapest config is 999 dollars. The core costs 500 but you get a 100 return if you but it with the the laptop. So in total you would spend 1400 bucks.
>>
>>53550143
>putting this in perspective
I hadn't expected that.
>>
>>53550243
That's actually not bad.....Shit.
>>
>>53550276
What they fail to mention is that the core is empty. 1400 total would be without the eGPU in your core. I guess you could buy gtx 960 card for 200 bucks or so. Total would be 1600 though.
>>
>>53550305
Yea but the thunderbolt 2 docks start around $300. That price really isn't that crazy when you consider the other options. Hopefully it'll be adopted and come down some.
>>
>>53550243
awful price. Check out something like the ViDock instead
>>
>>53550243
>$400 for a shitty GPU enclosure
You can make a full dedicated desktop for that money and not have to worry about dumb docking meme.
>>
>>53550391
If I recall correctly it is a bit more complicated that that. Like it properly supports hotplugging.
>>
>>53550391
Exactly, which brings my point back to >>53550203
>>
>>53550391
I know but the point is that you have a 1kg laptop for school/work and still be able to play every game on ultra
>>
>>53550428
That also bring my point back to >>53550203
>>
>>53550391
lightweight laptop outdoors, a gaymen machine indoors. that's basically it.
>>
>>53550431
I don't know. Why would I manage two machines?
>>
>>53550432
Any other laptop outdoors, and a gaymen desktop indoors.
>>
>>53550243
Damn that doesn't sounds bad at all. And compared to the other "ebic gaymer" shit Razer has, that laptop really looks good and it's also lightweight enough to carry it everywhere.
>>
>>53550438
More customisation for the main machine, more storage options, two machines means if one fail (usually the one you bring out), you have one more working machine back home, a broken screen means you're left with totally nothing until it comes back from repair.
>>
>>53550449
But the ultrabook is great on it's own and is comparable to XPS 13 and Lenovo yoga even without the added dock
>>
>>53550462
It's not. Those fucking giant bezels and flashy green AYYLMAOWARE logo are disgusting.
>>
>>53550456
I already have a shitty laptop now. I could keep it as a backup in case shit breaks.
>>
>>53550466
In that case it's easier if you go this route >>53550432
>>
>>53550464
>AYYLMAOWARE
kek. I was planning on covering it with a gnu sticker or a sticker of RMS's butt. it really is a great laptop. It's the only non apple laptop with full metal build
>>
>>53549969
Sell both, manchild. There will be one less /v/ poster in /g/.
>>
>>53549969
>Please convince me not to sell my kidney and buy this shit.
Nothing matter anymore ever since you sold your brain.
>>
>>53549969
Disgusting bezels.
>>
>Buying a portable 980 graphics setup
>For a cable standard that can't support the graphics power

I hope you're convinced. If not. There's no hope for you.
>>
>>53552640
This shit ain't USB mate
>>
>>53549969
>"portable" card
>you still need to plug it to a fucking wall
I hope you die soon
>>
>>53552690
Thunderbolt 2 supports theoretically up to 20Gb/s. That's gigabit. Not gigabyte. A 980ti throws out a potential 300+ GBp/S worth of bandwidth. That's gigaBYTES. PCI 3.0 x16 can push out 15.75GBp/s. Thats gigaBYTES.

1Gigabit = about 125 megabytes.

Know the difference.
>>
>>53549969
loool what an ugly piece of shit
>>
>>53549969
It's just one more meaningless material object that will serve only to temporarily distract you from your life.
>>
Stop falling for such bad memes its not even portable wtf is the point just build a mitx pc and be done with it
>>
>>53552809
Me again. Sorry I hadn't realized USB Type C Thunderbolt was not Thunderbolt though it is the same connector. USB Type C is 40 gigabits per second which is still only around 5 gigabytes. That's out of the 15 gigabytes per second that true PCIe 3.0 allows for out of the 300+ gigabytes per second the 980 to has room to push for.

Also
>This ain't USB mate
It is.
